Lichfield based ex police dog handler, offering walking solo dogs at local parks and suitable venues, or in small groups up to 5 dogs at an enclosed dog field for safety. I have 4 decades of experience looking after, training, competing and working with dogs. I have been a pet dog owner, a police dog handler, with patrol dog Max and explosives detection dog Bracken. I've competed in civilian dog
trials and at local, regional and national police dog trials. A home dog boarder looking after hundreds of other peoples dogs of all breeds. I've been a dog sitter travelling to peoples homes to look after their dogs, oh and their Fish too! I've been a dog walker and dog trainer off and on for many years now, before I ran a doggy daycare which sadly closed during the lockdowns! All in all I've spent my adult life with dogs and I've learned a thing or two about them. If you are struggling to understand why your dog behaves the way they do, sadly most of it is because of us. I currently run a dog boarding company and due to my personal circumstances, I live in a flat in Lichfield and cannot have dogs to live or stay with me at this time. So, to get my doggy fix, I have some limited spaces for dogs to walk on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning. I have even less opportunity to train dogs these days, so mainly I will be using this limited time to walk a select few dogs and socialise and help tire them out so that they will be calm and happy for their owners when they come home from work. My aim is to start with two dogs using my existing transport (see the posts about transport and cages) and then move to more dogs when I locate the right vehicle. The dogs will be gradually introduced to form a pack that will come together and be run on enclosed fields, so that they can burn energy and socialise in a safe, supervised environment. From my experience running the daycare, I will tell you that dogs can get bored and do not need a day of entertainment. Some with huge energy levels, benefit from being run for the day in order to calm them down and drain that energy, but most don't need it and it is not beneficial for them in many ways. By running with a pack for an hour, the dogs will be stimulated, their energy drained and any social errors corrected. So, I will post more as I go along, but that is the plan and as I said, there will be limited spaces and so I recommend that you get in early and book your dog a place. Hope to meet you and your dogs soon! Best regards Steve :-)
