I’ve been keeping a little secret…

And I can finally share it with you…

The Dog Parlour is a finalist as we’ve been nominated for ‘Pet Groomer of the year East Midlands’ at the UK Pet Industry awards 2026!

I honestly can’t tell you how much this means to me and my entire team.

The Dog Parlour has always been about so much more than grooming. It’s about the dogs we adore, the wonderful people who trust us with them and a team who put their hearts into what they do every single day. We have a little saying at the dog parlour:

Wish it • Dream it • Do it

Well… we wished it, we dreamed it and now we need you to help us do it! The awards are 100% decided by public vote, so every single vote really does matter.

Please vote for The Dog Parlour
voting is open until 1st November 2026.

To every customer who has walked through our doors, recommended us, supported us, laughed with us and trusted us with a very precious member of their family thank you. We wouldn’t be here without you.

Now, can we bring this one home together xx

Grass Seed Season is Here… Please Check Your Dogs!

We are seeing more dogs coming into the salon with grass seeds caught in their coats. Although they may look harmless, grass seeds can cause painful injuries and infections if they're left unnoticed.

Please check your dog regularly, especially after walks:
• Between the toes and paw pads
• Inside and around the ears
• Around the eyes
• Under the armpits
• Around the groin and tail
• In long or fluffy coats

Signs your dog may have a grass seed include:
• Excessive licking of a paw
• Head shaking or scratching at the ears
• Squinting or rubbing an eye
• Sneezing repeatedly
• Swelling, redness or limping

If you notice any of these signs, contact your vet as soon as possible. Grass seeds can work their way under the skin and cause serious problems if left untreated.

At the salon, we will always let you know if we find any grass seeds or areas of concern during your dog's groom. Keeping coats well maintained can also help reduce the risk.

Please share this post to help keep our four-legged friends safe this summer! 🐾

Today, Clive and I celebrate 41 years of marriage!

Over the last 10 years many of you have seen the business grow but what you may not see is the man working quietly behind the scenes, keeping me grounded, supporting my ideas (even the slightly mad ones!) In addition generally making sure everything keeps moving in the right direction.

Clive has been my biggest supporter, my best friend and without doubt the best duet partner I could ever wish for. After 41 years, we've learned the secret to a happy marriage and we never even had to work at it: plenty of laughter, patience, teamwork... and occasionally pretending not to hear each other

Thank you, Clive for 41 years of love, friendship, support and for still putting up with me after all this time. I promise to keep you around for at least another 41 years!

Happy Anniversary to us x

And they call it puppy love…💙🩷

Yesterday we had this adorable puppy visit us! He was full of energy from the moment he arrived and spent the entire time on the go while Keira groomed him. Sniffing at everyone who walked past the table and keeping those little feet moving nonstop, he had so much character and kept us smiling all morning.

Then, after all that excitement he suddenly decided he needed to treat himself to a well-earned power nap!

Moments like these remind us how lucky we are to do what we do. We absolutely love spending our days caring for and grooming such wonderful dogs.

Lots of love
