Sarah Fisher had so many wise words for those who worked with her. This is one that serves as a reminder to us all that our dog's struggles are real and they are not always easy for us to navigate. But getting to the other side and seeing them shine makes it all worthwhile.

In loving memory of a special gentleman, 14 year old greyhound, Joey 💔. Loved deeply by his human, Susan, and his canine sisters, Clover and Gina. Now reunited with Tasha and all the rest of the family. He will be forever loved, forever missed and forever a ‘very good boy 💙’. The only time animals break our hearts is when they leave this earth, but they never leave our hearts. We love you Susan and Joey 💙🐾

🐾 MEET DARNA — OUR VERY OWN STAFF THERAPY DOG! 🐾

We thought it was about time we introduced a very important (and very fluffy!) member of the Mersey Vets team… Darna ❤️

Darna is a rescue Caucasian Shepherd who lives with one of our vets and has the most wonderful, gentle nature. She absolutely adores people and shares her home with a rather large family of other rescue dogs, who she loves to look after and keep an eye on. 🥰

A lot of her brothers and sisters are sighthounds, and having grown up surrounded by them, we’re fairly convinced Darna genuinely believes she is one too… although she’s not quite mastered the sighthound physique! 😂

Darna loves her walks, loves seeing her friends and, most of all, seems to love making people happy. ❤️

Veterinary life can sometimes bring some incredibly sad, emotional and stressful days, and that’s where Darna has a very special job. When one of us is having a tough day, a cuddle with this enormous fluffy girl somehow makes things feel just that little bit better.

She asks for very little in return… although snacks are always gratefully accepted. 🐾😂

Every veterinary practice needs a Darna. ❤️

🐾 Meet Sophie – one of our lovely vets! 🐾

Originally born and bred in Berlin, Sophie graduated from vet school in Hannover in 2011 before making the move to beautiful North Wales in 2015. Since moving to Liverpool, she’s also been working hard on a very important additional qualification… learning Scouse! 😂💙

At home, Sophie is very much owned by her two cats, Peter and Bernhard, while her smooth collie Lasse is her devoted personal shadow. 🐱🐱🐶

When she’s not looking after your pets, you’re quite likely to find Sophie flying down a mountain bike trail somewhere in Wales, Scotland or further afield! 🚵‍♀️ She also loves travelling and has combined this with her passion for veterinary care by volunteering with veterinary charities around the world, including in Morocco, Thailand and even the Cook Islands. 🌍❤️

Sophie is looking forward to meeting lots more of you — and, of course, your gorgeous pets — in practice! 🐾❤️
