Harley's Angels - Hull

Harley's Angels - Hull We are a small non-profit, aiming to reunite lost pets and restore hope. We began as a scan and reunite group.

Yet have grown into something more, including scanning, TNR, a small foster based rescue and offer support and advice on things like neutering.

Little Mr Red, aka Phoenix, is sending lots of sloppy slurpy noises your way with thankyou meows to everyone who has sent him chicken and goodies, and a few toys.

And a huge thank you for all the donations to Harley’s Angels. We now have 7 kittens in our care from the same trash ridden, rat infested area. They arrived malnourished and battling varying degrees of flea anaemia, severe in little Phoenix and Nova’s case.

Nova is now absolutely thriving, and we’re praying Phoenix keeps fighting just as hard.

Every donation helps towards their ongoing care, vet bills, food and medication.

Thank you for seeing them, supporting them and giving them a chance.

A little thankyou from us. ❤️

We see you, we appreciate you, and we’re so incredibly grateful for every message, donation, kind word and bit of support. Thank you too for your patience and understanding. Little Red aka Phoenix aka Little Gremlin has been sending his meows and hisses our way during medication time! 😂😬

He’s back at the vets this afternoon for more investigations, but thankfully he’s gained weight over the weekend and, most importantly… he’s still here fighting. Keep fighting little man.

You can find ways to support Phoenix, his siblings and the cats in our care on pinned posts ❤️

Oh, where do we start… This isn’t the update we were hoping to bring you, but it’s one where our little Phoenix needs all the love, support and well wishes we can send his way…

Phoenix is here. He’s fighting. And honestly, he’s been an absolute little champ, a mini Mr Hamilton, fighting every single day, yet his blood results are poor, and he is battling anaemia, alongside other things we are still trying to understand.. the vets are not able to give us a clear prognosis yet.

Little man is around 400g lighter than his siblings, although after starting appetite medication to help him feel hungry, he has managed to get back up to around 1kg. We know that can change, though, so we are taking every little win we can get. Right now, the biggest battle is simply getting Phoenix to eat, he’s enjoying shredded chicken, so that’s exactly what we’re giving him. We know he needs to start eating proper kitten food too, for all the nutrients and goodness he needs to grow and fight, and we’ve found some shredded chicken kitten food that we think he might enjoy…

We’ve added Encore and Applaws shredded chicken kitten food to our Amazon Wishlist. If anyone would like to send some to our little fighter, it would mean so much to us.

And a huge thank you for the donations over the weekend, we went from having just 10p in the bank to things looking a little healthier, but we honestly don’t know what Phoenix is going to need.. we know his bloods will need rechecking, we know there will be more vet visits and treatments. And we still have all the other cats and kittens already in our care.

So please understand when we say we are full. It isn’t because we don’t care. It isn’t because we don’t want to help. It’s because the cats and kittens already in our care have to come first.

Please keep sharing Phoenix’s story. Keep your fingers crossed. Send him all your love, good wishes and prayers.

We turned things around for little Nova, Diamond and Onyx when it looked so frightening.

So come on, little Phoenix…
Let’s do it again. 🥺💜

🚨 WE NEED YOUR HELP — URGENTLY 🚨

Our bank account is now completely empty, but the calls for help don’t stop. 💔

Little Phoenix is still very unwell and fighting so hard. He is losing a worrying amount of weight and, until we get his test results back, we simply don’t know what is causing it. 💔🐾

This little boy is going to need more vet visits and treatment, and we desperately need to raise some money to make sure we can continue to give him everything he needs. ❤️‍🩹

We also desperately need kitten food and cat litter for all the babies in our care.

🙏 Please, if you can spare even £1, it really could make a difference.
And please take a look at our Amazon Wish List — every bag of food and every bag of litter donated helps us enormously.

We know times are hard for everyone, but without your support we simply cannot keep going. 💔

Please help us keep fighting for Phoenix. 🐾💜

Oh what an absolute week from hell here, and our hearts are with all rescues!

We are so incredibly thankful for the invite to this day, supporting some very special causes…

Wymersley Park - HU5 5PU

Please come and see us! We desperately need to raise as much as we can right now.

We have a kids prize every time, an adult tombola, and lots of beautiful handmade items made by our wonderful volunteers. 🥰

But behind the smiles and fundraising, things are incredibly tough for us right now.

We cannot take any more cats in, and honestly, we hate that.

We’ve been working in one particular area. Together, we’ve managed to get some of the true ferals TNR’d, but we’ve also taken six kittens from this area.

We found little Eddie and his decomposed siblings. 💔 We lost Jamie Redsnatch. 🌈
And we have little Mamma Asha/Myrtle, who has suffered such significant loss.

Then there was Nova, Onyx & Diamond, who gave us one hell of a fright. Thankfully, Nova has absolutely THRIVED and, after being so close to death, she has a meet & greet tomorrow! 🥹💜

But sadly… we now have three more kittens from the same area, Raven, Phoenix & Serena.

Yesterday, we had to rush little Phoenix to the vets. He is struggling desperately to maintain, let alone gain, weight. His appetite is suppressed, and he has now lost weight, he is around 400g lighter than his siblings.

It is genuinely touch and go for him right now. 💔

He has started medication to hopefully help stimulate his appetite. His SNAP test was negative, and we are now anxiously awaiting his blood results.

Our biggest battle right now is simply getting Phoenix to eat. 🥺 Yesterday’s emergency vet visit cost £208, wiping out our account once again.

For now, anything else needed is coming from our own resources, but we simply cannot keep doing this alone. ❤️‍🩹

If you can spare anything at all, whether it’s a donation, sharing our posts, coming to see us at the fundraiser, or simply sending some prayers and positive thoughts for our poorly babies, it all helps.

Please send LOTS of love, prayers and positive thoughts for Phoenix, Raven & Serena.

We’ll update you all properly when we’re home. Yesterday was a very late night, and this fundraiser has been a very quick put together one!

Much love,
The Harley’s Team

Today has been nothing but…… Heartbreaking 💔

We started in good spirits, after we were able to trap one of the dads from the colony we’ve been working. We were actually there for the last remaining kitten and a mama cat. We were elated to recover the final kitten and bring them to safety, likely in the nick of time as they appear to be battling infection and severe parasite infestations. Mama was a no show, so we quickly changed plans and managed to catch a dad instead.

This gorgeous boy was booked for neutering today and at the time I lovingly and lightheartedly named him Jamie Redsnatch 🧡

Nothing could have prepared me for the fact that Jamie wasn’t ever going to be coming home 🥺 He sadly tested positive for FIV. I cannot describe how utterly heartbroken I am 💔 I’m fighting back more tears just writing this….. I have dreaded this day for a very long time.

Now let me be very clear, I am a firm believer that FIV is NOT a death sentence. My own cat, Harley was FIV+ and we have 2 others in our care. But Jamie was feral, he was terrified and became withdrawn in the recovery unit. Forcing him to remain indoors would have significantly impacted his welfare. He gave me one hell of a fight when trapping and was very distressed. There was no other viable options for him.

I always ask for a nurse to hold their paw as they make their journey over the 🌈 bridge, if I cannot be there to do so myself. I don’t want any animal to make this journey alone, unloved and scared. Jamie was loved and he mattered.

And I wish this is where the sadness ended but that would be a lie 😔 …. A couple of days ago we were alerted to a heavily pregnant cat that had been abandoned by a previous ‘owner’ who had moved abroad. A very caring lady became worried about her when she hadn’t shown for a day or so. After this lady did a little searching, she found Mama inside the shed of her previous home…. Harrowingly trying to bury her miscarried babies 💔

The lady told us what she had found (we’d already were trying to arrange an emergency placement before this), so as usual we moved heaven and earth to get this Mama safe. After an offer of placement from one of our wonderful foster carers, Mama Asha was brought to safety - riddled with fleas and still a very large tummy. Our concerns grew that Mama Asha had some further complications, so with the help of Hull Animal Welfare Trust, a scan was arranged for today. We did expect there were could be some remaining stillborn kittens that she could not pass on her own, so this was not surprising when confirmed by the vet 🥺…. But when they said they could hear just one tiny heartbeat in there, my heart almost stopped beating.

With a lump in my throat, I asked the vet what were our options and sadly there was only one - for Mama to be spayed which would also remove her surviving kitten 💔 As the vets couldn’t be sure whether this kitten would be developed enough, I asked them to please do everything they could to try save this babies life if it was at all possible. I tried to hold on to the slither hope that maybe we had a chance ….. but sadly Harley’s had run out of miracles this time. The vets called to tell me the surviving kitten wasn’t developed, having a number of weeks to go and tragically he died very quickly during the procedure… there was nothing they could do 💔

We take comfort in the fact that Mama Asha is recovering, treated for horrific parasite infestations, saved from a certain death if we had not intervened and now she never has to endure another unwanted pregnancy; but our hearts are heavy today.

We’ve been told before we could be criticised for putting this type of stuff online and from what we know, that is absolutely very true. But we are of the firm belief in being transparent with our supporters and also showing the side of rescue that the public don’t always get to see. If just 2 cats had been neutered, today wouldn’t have happened - Jamie would be alive and Mama Asha would not have had to suffer in pain as her body fought to try push out her stillborn litter and fail. For those who don’t neuter your cats and those who make excuses for why they aren’t done, this is the pain and suffering you are allowing to be inflicted on not just your cat, but every cat it goes on to fight or mate with.

Today, we need the help of our supporters, followers, cat fanatics and community.
We need you to keep on educating, keep on sharing the stories of cats like Jamie and Asha, keep on supporting your rescues and most importantly keep on loving the cats of Hull! If you want to know how you can help us, please see below and thank you for standing beside us:

‼️HU3 Area - Anlaby Road ‼️

Has anyone in the last 2 weeks (maybe more) lost a kitten, they have been trapped in the area we are working and has heavy fleas. Despite this, they are super tame and friendly unlike the other kittens we have trapped so must’ve known some comfort before. They are black and white, tuxedo style.
If you think they might be yours, please dm us proof of ownership 🙏
