Harley's Angels - Hull

Harley's Angels - Hull We are a small non-profit, aiming to reunite lost pets and restore hope. We began as a scan and reunite group.

Yet have grown into something more, including scanning, TNR, a small foster based rescue and offer support and advice on things like neutering.

‼️ Tonight. at Harley’s we are officially putting a pause on taking in any more intakes. ‼️

Rescue work is hard for everyone, but tonight once again we’ve been left feeling with fear and heartbreak, not knowing what is going to happen next with our little rescue floofs. Mamma Penny is still with Charlie, but she is nowhere near 100%. She will most likely be going back to the vets on Monday. Sadly, little Cherry has unfortunately crashed in the same way Shadow did, but this time it seems to be much worse.

Our amazing foster carer and surrogate mum is currently on her way to Market Weighton again for an out of hours emergency appointment, with one of Penny’s babies now in critical condition.

This will be the fifth vet visit, with costs already running into hundreds of pounds. Every single one of them is worth every penny, but with Ham’s leg amputation, ongoing treatment and this family under critical watch while we still don’t know exactly what is happening, we simply cannot afford to take any more cats into our care right now.

We hope this will change soon, and with the support of the public and our Harley’s Angels we’re sure it will. But please understand that if we say no right now, it isn’t because we want to.

We can still offer advice, but right now we cannot do much more. We have too many poorly cats and we have to focus on the ones already depending on us.

Please donate to Ham’s surgery and treatment through our JustGiving page. We can also accept donations via bank transfer or PayPal.

Until we are back on top of our funds, until Mamma Penny and the kittens are in the clear, and until Ham is healed, we cannot take on more.

Please understand ❤️

And thank you so much to Jenny’s Cat House for all the support, advice, transport help and rescue support. We truly appreciate you 🥹❤️

‼️ Trigger UPSETTING IMAGES‼️

Charlie here, I didn’t get chance to update last night on our gorgeous champ Mr Ham, or even give an update on the rest of the floofs that have given us a fright this past week. We know we’re still very much in the thick of it, but our team have been absolutely incredible. Sorry for the delay, by the time I got home with Ham last night and got him settled, I was completely shattered.

So, Ham is living up to his namesake once again. He’s taking everything he’s going through like an absolute champ. Of course, he’s on strong pain relief to help keep him calm and as comfortable as possible, especially because he already hated being crated but thankfully this is only for a short period of time. His surgery went well, and now we just have to hope no further treatment is needed and that he recovers smoothly.

Honestly, he made me feel so much better straight away, purring with me, asking for belly rubs and chin scratches like himself again. I’ve been hand-feeding him a little while he adjusts to the cone, but overall he had a settled night.

I also have Mamma Penny staying with me. We had to make the difficult decision to separate her from her babies, but thankfully the little ones are doing so much better and are thriving with foster mamma Charlotte. Penny herself actually seems a lot happier now the kittens aren’t taking every little bit she has left, especially as she’s producing little to no milk at all.

She is still worrying us a little though. She’s interested in food and gets excited when I’m putting it down, but then she sniffs it and walks away. I’ve tried every kind of food imaginable, she’s even turning her nose up at boiled chicken, although at times she will suddenly manage a full pouch. So at the moment we’re still unsure what’s going on, but she is drinking, and we are managing to get more food into her, just obviously not as much as this poor girl really needs.

She really is the sweetest little love bug. She’s nervous and cowers at loud noises or even if you walk into the room too quickly, but the second you sit on the bed or down on the floor, she comes over purring away, happy to see you. Poor girl.

Thank you to all our incredible supporters and our angels. Thankyou to Jenny’s cat house for all the support this past week and guidance.. working together means a lot.

We appreciate every single one of you more than you know 🖤

Our foster boy Mr Hamilton “Ham” came into our care with a badly dislocated leg. Despite surgery, crate rest, and round the clock care, his leg has sadly dislocated again and today he will become a tripod.

Ham has been an absolute champ through everything and is the sweetest little soul, but his surgery and treatment costs are estimated between £1,000–£2,000, which has put huge pressure on our small rescue.. we are ever so grateful for the support and guidance we have recieved.

We are asking for help to raise £2,500 to cover Ham’s surgery, recovery, ongoing care, fees and any extra funds will go directly back into helping the rescue cats who rely on us every day.

Rescue means everything to us, but right now we are at a critical point financially. If you can donate, share, or support us in any way, we would be so incredibly grateful. Every £1 truly helps. Just sharing Hams Story which costs nothing.. it could help find people who are able to donate to these costs.

Thank you for always supporting Harley’s Angels Hull and our floofs.

Charlie Here..

What a horrible day… but we pull through as a team, like we always do. ❤️

Mamma Penny had to go to the vets today as she completely stopped eating. She’s had steroids, anti sickness medication, and antibiotics. Thankfully, we’ve managed to get some hydration food mixed with mousse into her, and it seems to have helped a little. She’s still on critical watch, and we’ll need to keep monitoring her closely and return for further check ups and treatment if needed.

Then, within an hour of getting home from the vets, our Mr Ham Chops’ leg came out the socket again.. I am absolutely heartbroken. I felt like a failed foster mamma because we were trying so hard to stop this from happening, and he had been doing so well. But we were warned this could happen.

He’s now at the pet hospital on strong pain relief, and tomorrow they’ll do X-rays. Deep down, we already know the likely outcome, our brave boy will need surgery and will lose his leg tomorrow, becoming our HAMSOME little tripod.

He’ll be coming back home with me afterwards for all the love, care, and recovery support he needs. I’m devastated that his joint is just too weak, but we know this is the best decision to give him a pain free future.

We honestly can’t thank JCH enough. Today they helped with transport and so much more.

Right now, we need to raise around £1,000–£2,000 for Ham’s treatment. It’s a huge amount, but he is worth every single penny to free him from pain. We do worry about how he’ll cope, but we know he’s a fighter.

We’ve got some fundraising ideas planned, so please keep an eye out, we’ll likely also be setting up a GoFundMe soon. Alongside Ham’s operation and Mamma Penny’s critical care and babies, we also have Izzy fighting an infection, plus all our other foster fluffs needing ongoing care too.

For now, we are closing our doors to new intakes.

Today we also went down to Patrington to meet Kellie in person while taking down the catio, which will go on to help aid recovery for cats in the future. Well… I say “helped take it down”really I sat getting cuddles from the cats and dogs instead! Astro and Blossom were absolute love bugs, and honestly, it was exactly what I needed after the day I’ve had.

Also, if anyone knows of a good mechanic who could take a look at our team lead Leisha’s car, we’d really appreciate it as it’s having a few issues.

Please donate if you can, because we truly can’t keep going at this rate. I’ll post in comments ways to help but please share far and wide.

I’m going to try and get some sleep now as I’m emotionally exhausted, but I don’t think I’ll be able to but I’m going to go spend some time with Sarabi and Penny. I just know my Mr Ham Floof must be so confused tonight. I’m praying they’ve managed to keep him comfortable and pain free so he can settle and rest.

Here’s a little photo of our Hamsome chilled man when he was on his time out of crate 😩🥹💔

First, we want to share a little bit of positive news. Baby Shadow is now back with his incredible foster family alongside his sisters, Cherry and Starfire. The relief and happiness we all felt last night after such a worrying weekend was honestly indescribable. We were practically dancing around the room when we saw a little wriggly Shadow being his usual kitten self again. Thank you so much to the vets who gave him the care he needed.

Sadly, when we got back to the floofs, things had taken a turn for mamma Penny. As we all know, Penny is still just a baby herself, weighing only 2kg, she fits into a kitten bed. This little mamma is the true definition of strength. Despite everything, she got her babies to 4/5 weeks old and gave them absolutely everything she had. Seeing a cat who has no reason to trust humans, yet welcome our help so gently and trust us with her babies, has completely broken our hearts.

Last night, Penny started going downhill. She has now stopped eating, which is deeply worrying because her little body desperately needs nutrition. Her temperature has started rising again, and with guidance from the vets, and based on what we’ve learnt, we made the incredibly difficult decision to move her away from the kittens and into Charlie’s care. The kittens are now mostly weaned and are receiving round the clock care from their amazing foster family.

This was not a decision we took lightly, and honestly, it has left us feeling defeated. But Penny’s milk has pretty much already dried up, and she barely has anything left to sustain herself. She had also started growling when the kittens were around food, likely because she’s exhausted, overwhelmed, and in pain.

Charlie is taking her to the vets within the next hour, and there’s a possibility she may need to stay in for treatment.

We will do everything we can to reunite Penny with her babies if it is safe and in their best interests, but right now we have to focus on what is best for them all.

Thank you all so much for the love and support you continue to show this family. Please keep sharing, and if you are able to donate even £1, it truly helps us continue fighting for them and getting this family through the critical stage.

Please keep Penny, Baby Shadow, Cherry, Starfire, and everyone caring for them in your thoughts. Send love, strength, and prayers.

Much love

The Harley’s Angels Team

We know so many of you have already donated and supported us over the past few days, and we honestly couldn’t do this without you all. Please find pinned post ways you can help, via Amazon wishlist, PayPal and bank donations.

Tonight, baby Shadow is finally being reunited with his mamma and siblings after his stay at the pet hospital. We are so relieved to have him back, but we also understand the next few weeks are going to be incredibly critical, as kittens can decline very quickly and their condition can change from day to day.

Our sweet mamma Penny is only a baby herself and is absolutely exhausted. Sadly, she has now stopped producing milk even though the kittens are only around 4/5 weeks old. Penny has been given antibiotics and will be returning to the vets again tomorrow for further care.

As hard as things are right now, we truly believe that if we hadn’t brought this little family in, they would almost certainly have died on the streets.

Please continue sending all your love, prayers, and strength to Penny, Shadow, and the babies and also to our incredible foster carer, who is doing absolutely everything possible to keep this little family safe and loved. ❤️ xx

It never ends 😭

We have had to rush poor little Shadow to the vets as he was very out of it and showing signs of infection. His poor mama is so young and she is hardly producing milk to keep her babes going, she and her kittens have all been on supplements the past couple days that they have been with our wonderful foster carer.

He has absolutely wiped out our funds, £179 spent tonight on appointment and £500 for overnight admission. The rest is yet to come 😔
Any funds you can spare to save our little Shadow would be amazing. We know we ask so much but when a tiny life is on the line, we will do everything we possibly can 🥲

We have had the absolute pleasure of being able to buy this cat pod off the wonderful 9 Lives Cat Rescue CIC 🤩👏🏻 This will provide us with an onsite recovery space for TNR when we are in a pinch, and our TNR list is growing and growing daily so we want to start ASAP.

However, we do need a hand moving this from Patrington to East Hull, HU8 🥺 Do you or anyone you know have a large van to transport this cat pod for us? We can offer to pay for fuel and we should be able to dismantle it ourselves (although I wouldn’t say no to an extra pair of hands 😅) we just need help getting it from A to B.

It is 7ft long, 6ft wide and about 5.5ft high. Can anyone of you lovely lot help? I’m sorry to ask when we get such amazing support, however I just can’t quite fit this is in a Nissan 🤣
