Our feathered friends can be super sneaky and hide illnesses well. This means that problems such as respiratory infections may not be obvious in the early stages.
Recognising the early warning signs can really help, so we want you to be as informed as possible.
Common symptoms include:
🦜 Sneezing
🦜 Nasal discharge
🦜 Open-beak breathing
🦜 Coughing
🦜 Changes in vocalisation
🦜 Clicking sounds
🦜 Tail bobbing with each breath
There can be different causes for respiratory disease, including bacteria, fungus and viruses. Other factors include poor ventilation or irritants within bedding.
Unfortunately, birds can deteriorate quickly, so if you notice any problems, it’s important to contact us as soon as possible!
