You don’t need to have just brought your puppy home to join a puppy class! If your pup is 6 months or under, they’re welcome to join us 💛

🐾 WELCOME TO THE PACK, TIGER! 🐾

Say hello to the newest (and definitely one of the fluffiest 🥹) members of the Walkies family — 11-week-old Golden Retriever, Tiger! 💜

Tiger is a little bit too young for my usual hour-long dog walks just yet, so while he’s still a baby I’ll be spending my Thursday & Friday afternoons with him providing puppy care while his family are at work. 🐶

At this age, puppy care looks a little different to a normal dog walk. We’ll have plenty of toilet breaks, short age-appropriate adventures, play and enrichment, little bits of training and routine reinforcement… and, very importantly, plenty of time for naps! 😴

It means Tiger gets company, one-to-one attention and his normal routine can be kept as consistent as possible while his family are out — and I get two afternoons a week of Golden Retriever puppy cuddles, so I’m really not complaining! 🤣

I have a feeling you’ll be seeing quite a lot of this little face over the next few months! 💜🐾

☀️ HOT WEATHER DOG WALKING UPDATE ☀️

With temperatures to hit around early 30s today, keeping dogs safe always comes first 🐾

On days like this, normal walks simply aren’t worth the risk. Dogs can overheat far quicker than people realise.

I’ve written a quick blog with some simple ideas to help keep your dog cool and comfortable during the heatwave:

☀️ Hot Weather Update ☀️

With temperatures forecast to reach around 27–30°C next week, Walkies With Kris will be switching to hot weather routines to keep the dogs safe and comfortable 🐾

During extreme temperatures, it’s not safe for dogs to continue their normal walks. Dogs can overheat very quickly and hot pavements can become dangerous — especially for dogs with thicker coats, shorter noses or those who simply love to go full speed no matter the weather 😅

Instead of full walks, I’ll be offering company visits. These include a short toilet stroll where appropriate, followed by enrichment, play, fuss and company in the home and/or garden.

For my long-term clients, you’ll remember this from last summer. For newer clients, this has always been my approach during heatwaves because your dog’s wellbeing and safety will always come first ❤️

🐾 National Rescue Dog Day 🐾

Rescue dogs have always held a special place in my heart.

Growing up, I had two rescue dogs of my own — Rosie, who came into my life when I was 8, and Bella, a rescue Dalmatian who joined our family when I was 12. And now I’m lucky enough to have a rescue dog as part of the Walkies With Kris pack too, the lovely Domino ✨

They all came with different stories and backgrounds, and not every story starts easily.

But one thing I’ve always found incredible is how forgiving and loving dogs are.

Sometimes rescue dogs need a little more patience, understanding or confidence building — but when they realise they’re safe, loved and home, there’s something really special about seeing their personalities shine through.

Today felt like a lovely excuse to celebrate them and appreciate the joy they bring to our lives 💛

Here’s to the rescue dogs — and the second chances that end up changing our lives too 🐾

My first Calm & Focus Clicker Foundations course has just finished and I couldn’t be prouder of the progress from both the dogs and owners over the last 6 weeks 🥹✨
