🐾 Bronze Gundog Training Graduate 🐾

A huge congratulations to Darwin the Cocker Spaniel 💛🐶

Darwin has become the first dog to complete our Bronze Gundog Training programme, what an achievement! 🎉👏

Throughout his training, Darwin showed fantastic enthusiasm and focus, but he absolutely nailed the retrieve, demonstrating all the skills he has been working so hard to develop 🌟

It has been a pleasure to watch his progress, and we're delighted to say that this is just the beginning of his gundog journey.

Darwin will be continuing his training with us in the future, and we can't wait to see what he achieves next! 🐾✨

🤬 Do you know what really boils my blood about the dog training industry? And I really have no issue with opening a can of worms!

😥 The fact that good, decent trainers work their backsides off to gain qualifications, accreditations and respect while others do the opposite. Then ending up doing more damage to the poor dogs.

🫵 This is a reminder that you guys need to check your trainer's background. This industry is unregulated, your 90 year old nanna could wake up tomorrow and call herself a dog trainer.

👉 Who are they qualified with?
👉 Are they balanced or positive reinforcement? Stay away from the balanced ones......they can use ALL tools, even the bad ones.
👉 What accreditations do they have?
👉 What organisations are they part of?
👉 Do they have good reviews?
👉 Do their social media posts look kind and ethical?
👉 Do they collaborate with other ethical dog professionals?
👉 Do they commit to CPD?
👉 Are they insured, canine first aid trained and DBS checked?

😲 And even if they tick all of these boxes will they still turn up on your doorstep with a slip lead and use it to inflict pain on a nervous and reactive dog?

😞 Because this is the world we live in currently. It all sounds good on the phone but how good a selling pitch do they have when they are in your house? With all of their tools preying on a member of the public that simply wants to help their dog.

😱 If the training inflicts any kind of emotional or physical pain that is not force free/positive reinforcement. It is abuse! The fact there is a direct link between animal abuse and domestic violence says what kind of person must think this is ok. Then to go and charge people to do it is on another level.

😶‍🌫️ Don't walk round with your head in the clouds. Advocate for your dog and call out the people claiming to be force free when in reality they really aren't. In many other trades it would be false advertising.

🐾 Teenage Training Spotlight 🐾

Meet CJ the Standard Schnauzer 💛

CJ completed her 1-2-1 Puppy Course with us last year, and recently her human came back for some extra support as CJ found herself firmly in the middle of adolescence 😅🐶

Like many teenage dogs, CJ had started pushing a few boundaries and testing the rules she once knew so well!

To help her through this stage, we went back to basics, revisiting the foundations while introducing some new training techniques to keep her engaged and progressing 🌟

We also worked in a variety of different locations, gradually increasing the level of distraction and difficulty to help CJ build her focus and reliability in the real world.

Adolescence can be a challenging time, but with consistency, patience, and the right guidance, dogs like CJ can come through it stronger than ever 👏

Well done CJ and human, keep up the fantastic work! 🐾
