🎉 WE'RE ENDING THIS SCHOOL YEAR IN STYLE 🎉

To celebrate an incredible year, we're giving away 3 FREE Wild Mane workshops to 3 local classes.

The winning classes can choose from:

🦡 Badger Detectives
Using real footage from our Badger-Cam, pupils investigate how badgers live, where they go, what they eat, and how they use their habitat. They'll ask questions, make observations, and use evidence to build a picture of life from a badger's point of view.

🌳 Tree Explorers
A hands-on look at the trees around us. Pupils learn how to identify different species using leaves, bark, seeds, and other clues, while exploring the role trees play in supporting wildlife and the wider environment.

🐴 Working Ponies: Past & Present
From farms and mills to modern-day conservation and community projects, pupils discover how ponies have worked alongside people throughout history and how their role has changed over time.

The best part? The workshop is delivered in the comfort of the winning class's own classroom, completely free of charge to the school and accessible for all 🥰🙌

To enter:

🌳 Comment with the school you'd like to nominate
🐴 Tell us which workshop you'd choose

We'll select 3 winning classes and announce them on this page on Monday 15th June 2026.

Good luck! 🍀

The workshops are offered to the nominated schools/classes. If a school is unable to accept the prize, another winner may be selected.

The Wild Mane Project has come a long way, but we’re just getting started. 🐴

Every week, we see the life-changing difference that time outdoors, nature, and our herd can make. From children finding confidence to adults reconnecting with themselves, the impact is real. 🥰

Now, we want to reach even further. 🙌

Your donation helps us build a brave space that is welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to everyone who needs it. It directly funds our community programmes, site improvements, and wildlife conservation projects. 🌳

We aren't stopping until our community has a space where people, nature, and horses thrive together. Every donation makes a difference. ❤️

We are a local, not-for-profit project delivering equine care, outdoor learning, and wilderness living skills within our community. We do not rely on large public funding streams. One of the things we've been working on behind the scenes is our Wild Mane Challenge Awards 🏅

The awards sit alongside everything we do, whether that's spending time with the ponies, learning wilderness skills, exploring the field, helping care for the the land, or getting involved in the day-to-day life of The Wild Mane Project.

There are five areas to explore, and so many awards to collect:

🐴 Equine Skills

🔥 Wilderness Living Skills

🛡️ Safety & Awareness

🌿 Nature & Environment

🚜 Field Management

Some people will collect lots of awards. Others will find an area they enjoy and stick with it. That's completely fine too.

We celebrate every achievement, because they are all big moments that contribute to self-esteem over time. 🌟

Children can collect badges, while young people and adults can choose badges or certificates.

We've put all of the Challenge Awards onto the new website, so if you want to have a look at the sort of things you can get involved with at The Wild Mane Project, it's a good place to start.

I’m so excited to finally share this with you all.

We are officially launching our new Home Education Sessions! 🐴🌳

Starting this term, we’ll be running these every Thursday term-time, at 11:30 AM.

These sessions focus on pony care and outdoor skills. We have clear learning programs in place, including our Wild Mane Challenges where the kids can work toward earning badges in everything from Equine Skills and Wilderness Living to Nature and Environment.

While we have these structures to guide us, we firmly believe that everyone learns in their own way, at their own pace. So please, no pressure needed here 🥰

We keep the groups really small so it’s a calm, supportive space for home-educated children and teens (ages 5 to 16) to connect, communicate, regulate, and build trust in their own time.

Whether they are hanging out with the herd, working on their next challenge badge, or learning practical skills, it’s a space where they can truly belong and just be themselves.

Spaces are limited since we keep the groups small!

💻 You can find all the details and book a spot directly on our website Www.wildmane.org.uk

Can't wait to welcome some new faces to the project.

If you've ever wondered what The Wild Mane Project is really about, it’s hard to answer in just one sentence.

It isn’t just about the ponies, or the wilderness skills, or the therapeutic sessions, though they’re all huge parts of it. At its core, it's just a space built on my belief that we all need opportunities to connect, learn, and do things that matter.

When you come here, you're not just a guest. You're part of the project. We believe that everyone learns in their own way, at their own pace. The Wild Mane Project is open to everyone to help everyone connect, communicate, regulate, and build trust in their own way, in their own time.

Everyone leaves their mark here. The Wild Mane Project was never meant to be a place where you just show up and leave, it has always been a place to grow with and belong to.

Wild Mane Wilderness & Equine Therapeutic Centre offers therapeutic approaches through Equine-Assisted Learning and Wilderness Living Skills. Outdoors, practical, and calm, we help people find steadiness, confidence, and real-world skills through nature, ponies, and hands-on learning.

The ponies got their Water Buffet today and safe to say it went down well in this weather ☀️🐴

Monty was already waiting by the gate because he knew exactly what was coming 😂

Before Esmeray and Teddy had even made it over, Monty was already busy testing every bucket in the buffet like a professional taste tester. By the time the others arrived, he had fully made himself at home 😭🌿💧

Alongside their fresh water, we give extra buckets with natural ingredients added, allowing them to choose what they feel drawn to. Some help encourage drinking, some help cool them down, and some support things like digestion, hydration, and general wellbeing.

Water buffets are a brilliant way of keeping horses interested in drinking during hot weather, especially for ponies like ours who live out 24/7. And honestly… watching their different personalities come out around the buckets is one of our favourite things 😂
