Another day another deer 🦌

This lucky young fallow deer was found crying in a river. A lovely couple heard her, pulled her out, and kept her warm overnight before bringing her to us in the morning!

We still urgently need funds for our livestock trailer to help with transporting deer, if you can please visit our donation page below and help us reach our target!

🚑 Midnight Roe Deer Rescue 🦌

At midnight on Friday the 21st, we were called out to a young roe deer hit by a car in Leatherhead. As one of the only local rescue services available 24/7, we didn’t hesitate to respond.

We work closely with local deer wardens and police to prevent unnecessary euthanasia of road-traffic-injured deer. While sadly many hit by cars cannot be saved, we want to raise awareness: it is not always the outcome.

This lucky youngster was brought safely back to our specialist deer facility, where he’s recovering from head trauma. His recovery journey will be long—deer require expert care, and safe transport is critical but extremely challenging with our current resources.

We are raising funds for a livestock trailer, so we can respond faster, transport them safely, and give more injured deer a fighting chance.

If you can help us reach our goal, please donate here:

When you work with wildlife, you learn to shut off. 🤍

We face pain, suffering, and loss every single day. Over time, you learn to stay strong, to keep going, to keep helping. But this drought… this extreme heat… it has worn us right down. We have never felt so helpless.

It is absolutely heartbreaking to watch creature after creature suffer, gasp, and struggle in waters that are drying up, heating up, and failing them.

And so, I ask this directly to our local councils and authorities: What will be done to stop this from happening again?

We volunteers can only do so much. What measures will you put in place to stop this happening again?

Drought is inevitable. It has happened before, and sadly it will happen again. But what has changed is the condition of the ponds, lakes, and streams that wildlife depends on. They are no longer dredged. They are choked with pollution. They are simply not being cared for.

These waters are drying up faster, warming quicker, and holding less life than ever before — not just because of the weather, but because they have been neglected.

We are doing everything humanly possible to help. But we cannot do it alone. What will you do to protect these places, so that when the next dry spell comes, our wildlife stands a fighting chance?

‼️ URGENT DROUGHT UPDATE‼️

Sussex & Surrey: Is your local pond drying up? Act fast! We have holding tanks ready to rescue fish before it’s too late. Please contact our rescue line on 07539072597.

We’re already caring for over 30 fish — including everything from common carp to the critically endangered European eel.

⚠️ Please act now: Keep ponds topped up and fresh water out for wildlife — conditions are getting critical.

💧 Costs are soaring — water, electricity and care are pushing us to the limit. We urgently need your support to keep these fish alive. Please donate what you can:

UPDATE: thank you everyone! Have managed to get one sorted! 🙌🏼💚

Has anyone got a pool they would be willing to donate?
Something similar to the image below, preferably with a pump but not necessary!
Unfortunately due to the drought we have taken a large number of fish who need to held, quarantined and treated before release!
Please message us or leave a comment if you can help!
Many thanks! 💚

Hello everyone! 💚

We wanted to share a quick update on our current situation here at Horsham Wildlife Rescue.

It’s been an incredibly busy spring and summer — animals have been coming into our care non‑stop, and we’re proud to be the only 24‑hour wildlife rescue service available in our area, always on call to help wildlife in all sorts of tricky situations that need our urgent assistance. We love what we do, and we’re fully committed to being here for every animal that needs us — but right now we’re really struggling with funding.

We are so, so grateful to everyone who has supported us over these past few months — whether by sending fish for our seagulls, contributing toward vet bills and enclosures, donating food for our ducklings, foxes, birds of prey, and all the other wildlife in our care — every single bit has helped more than we can say.

Although your donations have been a huge help, we’ve also had to put a great deal of our own money into the rescue just to keep everything afloat and our vital work moving forward. Right now our funds are running very low, and we’re reaching out to ask — please — if you can donate anything at all, big or small, to help us keep going.

So much goes into what we do: we receive dozens of calls every single day, which means constant costs for petrol to reach them and plenty of food to feed all the animals in our care. If you’re able to give regularly, setting up a small monthly direct debit would make an enormous, ongoing difference — helping us cover these running costs month on month and plan ahead. Even a one‑off gift is just as vital, and every single penny will go straight to the animals who rely on us.

Thank you so much — your kindness keeps us here 💚
