No food, no water, nothing. Lilo was found living in a cramped crate alongside several other dogs before our team stepped in to rescue her💔

She was emotionally and physically withdrawn when she arrived with us, understandably unsure of her new surroundings and new people. Thanks to the dedicated team at RSPCA Felledge Animal and Equine Centre, who showered her with love and care, she has blossomed into a social butterfly, leaving her past behind her.

She's now ready for a fresh chapter as an only-pet, with a family who can give her all the love she's missed out on.

Last night, the House of Commons debated a petition calling for mandatory licensing of animal rescue centres. We have been calling for this for years, so we were pleased to hear that the UK Government plans to take this forward 🙌

Most rescues across England and Wales are doing an incredible job for animals, but sadly, some aren't. Often, people set out with good intentions but get overwhelmed. With no minimum legal standards or routine checks, animals suffer until our animal rescuers intervene, and tragically, some animals are too far gone.

We're currently facing a capacity crisis due to an increase in multi-animal jobs, with anything from 60 up to 200 animals coming into our care at once. Licensing would help to ensure rescues have the support to better care for animals, only taking in as many animals as they can feasibly care for.

We will update our supporters in due course about how they can help make this reality.

When Lola arrived at RSPCA Block Fen Animal Centre, she was emaciated and had been through a lot.

With time and TLC, she's made wonderful progress! 💙

Lola is so friendly with people, adores affection and could live with children of secondary school age.

She can be under-socialised with other dogs, and after having to search for food to survive, mealtimes can be a little manic. However, with a calm, understanding home and family, we're sure she can continue to flourish.

After all she’s been through, Lola deserves her happy ending. Could that be with you? Apply here: https://bit.ly/3Nvg5iQ

A couple have been jailed, after 29 dogs, 17 snakes, one Hermann's tortoise, a leopard gecko and a monitor lizard were found in appalling conditions, alongside a dead snake and two dead dogs 😞

Animals were found in mud and dog faeces-filled rooms, small soiled cages, dirty vivariums, an unsuitable garden and a shed that smelled so bad, it made our Inspector cough and gag.

The police took possession of the animals, and they came into our care and to other rescues for rehabilitation and eventual rehoming. Heartbreakingly, for some, it was too late, and they didn't pull through their ordeal.

This is a sad reminder of the impact of neglect, which is at a six-year high for animals in England and Wales.

We're grateful for the help of Dyfed-Powys Police and Greenacres Rescue for their help in rescuing, rehoming and doing what's best for those involved. To read the full story, head to: https://bit.ly/4qK2R0i

A man from Scunthorpe has been sentenced to 20 months in prison and a 15-year animal ban after causing suffering to over 350 animals👨‍⚖️

An investigation found abundant mobile evidence of the organised cockfighting, which has been banned for over 180 years, including torturous specialist paraphernalia

From 361 birds to pregnant dogs, cats, and rabbits - hundreds of animals were left to suffer in unsuitable conditions. Thanks to the support of Humberside Police, the animals were seized from the property, and all of the animals brought into our care were rehomed.

Want to help shape the future of dog ownership in the UK? 🐕

We’re working with Dogs Trust and the York Health Economics Consortium on new research, exploring how dog ownership could be made safer or improved.

As part of this, we want to hear people’s views on dog licensing. We’ve created a short survey and would love your input.

We're honoured to have been nominated for a Smiley Charity Film Award! 🏆

This film captured an emotional reunion between RSPCA supporter, Alesha Dixon and Roy the dog, after Alesha opted to watch the distressing footage that led to his rescue.

Roy had been subjected to physical abuse from his owner, including this instance of slapping him and pushing him to the floor. Alesha's reaction was viewed over 100,000 times.

Luckily, Roy got his happy ending. However, many still suffer behind closed doors, and this video helped to show the impact your donations can have on their lives.

If you remember our film, or feel inspired, we'd hugely appreciate your vote: https://bit.ly/3NgnP7X

1 in 5 hens in the UK still spend their lives in cages with little space to move, leading to stress, injury and suffering 💔

That’s why we welcome Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra)'s UK-wide consultation on proposals to phase out the use of enriched ‘colony’ cages for egg-laying hens, pullets and breeder layers. The proposals also include banning the remaining use of conventional ‘battery’ cages'.

This is a crucial step towards a cage-free future. After many years of campaigning, we're going to need your support now, more than ever!
