Vet Neil Blake is at BCVA Congress, exhibiting three Torch research posters exploring:

📊 Factors affecting growth in pre-weaned dairy calves
⚖️ Variation in calf growth rates across commercial cattle farms
🔬 The use of faecal worm egg counts to support parasite control in cattle

🐮 Drawing on data from commercial farms, this work highlights the value of routine monitoring in helping us better understand animal health and performance.

🌍 World Vet Tech Week 🌍

This week at Torch Farm & Equine Vets, we’re celebrating our fantastic Vet Techs and the support they provide across our farm and equine teams.

From safely handling animals, maintaining and preparing equipment, to collecting and processing lab samples, recording information and assisting our vets with a variety of procedures, their diversity of skills and care make a difference every day.

Whether working with livestock on farm, supporting the care of our equine patients or maintaining our busy practice labs and locations, our Vet Techs are indispensable to ensuring everything runs smoothly, keeping animals comfortable, maintaining our high practice standards and supporting our vets in delivering the best possible treatment and care.

🐑 A ram can look healthy but still have fertility problems!

Torch Director and Farm Vet Nich Roper has spoken to Farmers Weekly about the concerning results our team is seeing amid the bluetongue outbreak.

With around 800 rams tested, approximately half have been infertile at the time of testing. Problems are also being found in flocks where farmers haven’t noticed any clinical signs of bluetongue.

We know this is another worry after an already difficult season. Checking your rams before tupping can help identify problems early and give you more time to consider your options.
