Please only approach us if you are 100% willing to put all the hard work in to having a rescue dog. Some of these dogs need continued support, behaviourist training, time and patience. Only apply to us if you're absolutely sure you can put your heart and soul into adopting our dogs. They deserve nothing less. Most of our dogs come via Council Stray Dog Kennels in the UK. Occasionally we will help vets abroad. Our Romanian Rescuers are Vets and/or training to be Vets. Our dogs are all fully vet checked before arriving with us and are vaccinated/treated as follows:

Nobivac DHPPi - providing immunisation against canine distemper, hepatitis (canine adenovirus), canine parvovirus and canine parainfluenza and is typically given in combination with a Nobivac leptospirosis vaccine (Nobivac Lepto2 or L4)

SnapTest 4dx - This is a blood test that checks for four common diseases in dogs: Heartworm, plus three tick-borne diseases. Given to dogs over 1 year old and must be negative before travel. This pertains to foreign dogs only

Brucellosis test - Canine brucellosis is a contagious bacterial infection caused by the bacterium, Brucella canis (B. All dogs must test negative before travelling to the UK

All dogs are wormed and flea treated before being rehomed

If old enough every dog will be spayed or neutered (unless there is a medical condition that prevents this)

Our chosen transporter is Eli Pet Transport who are DEFRA approved and run under TRACES system; with a fully qualified attendant on board as well as both drivers

HH dogs can be reserved for £150 non refundable deposit. The only circumstance upon which your deposit will be returned is if you fail your homecheck

Our adoption fee is £495 and in addition to the above you also receive a combination of the items below suitable for your dog:

Slip lead
Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy Book - by Steve Mann, Head of IMDT
Packet of dog treats
Cottage Industry English made dog training toy
Microchip registration
Medical card or Full passport
Full Rescue Back-Up

We also assist in Spay & Neuter campaigns to help end the awful plight of so many street dogs

We are happy to facilitate 'Charity Days' via companies with the appropriate paperwork. These can include dog walking, grooming, trips to freedom fields and the beach. Please Note: Helping Hounds has zero tolerance for harassment or abuse, and our policy is to cease engagement with anyone who threatens our volunteers or our rescue. Anyone perceived as threatening will have their membership to any of our public profiles revoked without warning or discussion.
