✨LET ME RE-INTRODUCE MYSELF✨

If you’re new around here, or you’ve been following The Pooch Pal for a while but don’t really know the person behind the dogs… hi, I’m Laura! 👋🏼

I thought it was about time I properly re-introduced myself and shared a little bit about the person behind the business.

🐾 The Pooch Pal was founded in September 2023 - something that started as a little idea has grown into something I genuinely couldn’t imagine my life without

🐾 In June 2025, I took the plunge and went full-time. It was a huge decision (and definitely a little scary!), but it’s honestly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made

🐾 Over the last few years, and especially over the past year, I’ve learnt SO much. From understanding different breeds, personalities and behaviours, to handling challenging situations, building relationships with nervous dogs and simply learning what it really takes to run a business. Every dog, every client and every experience has taught me something

🐾 One of my favourite things about this journey has been building my own little Pooch Pal family. So many of the dogs I care for have been with me for a long time, and watching their personalities develop and their confidence grow is one of the best parts of my job ❤️

And a few things about me, away from the business…

🥾 I LOVE hiking and camping - especially exploring Wales
🏕️ I’d happily spend a weekend in a tent surrounded by mountains and lakes
🐭 I’ve always been drawn to animals and, if I’m being completely honest, I much prefer spending my days with animals than humans 😂
❤️ I have a small family and a small circle of very close friends - quality over quantity always
🕷️ I have exactly ONE fear in life… spiders!
🌿 I love being outdoors and exploring new places
☕ And when I’m not working, I’m usually planning my next adventure!

Starting The Pooch Pal has been one of the biggest things I’ve ever done, and I’m incredibly proud of how far it’s come.

So, if you’re new here - welcome! 👋🏼

There’s a new dog walker in town! 🤠👢

I’m so excited to introduce you to Charlotte, owner of Reilley & Taegan and client of mine for the past three years 🐾

Following a recent career change, Charlotte has decided to take the plunge and start her own dog walking business, covering Totteridge, Terriers, Micklefield & Hazlemere.

Over the past few months we’ve been working very closely to get Charlotte set up ready to go and from mid-September I’ll be handing over a handful of the wonderful doggies currently on my books 📔

Although it makes me very sad to say goodbye, I couldn’t be more confident that they’ll be in the best of hands 🙌

Super excited to be a part of your journey and I can’t wait to see what the next year looks like for you! 😍👏

🐾 Finding the right dog sitter isn’t something to rush!

I’ve seen some absolute horror stories online about people trusting the wrong person with their dogs, and it’s honestly a good reminder of how important it is to do your homework before booking.

Your dog is part of your family, so you deserve to feel completely comfortable with the person you’re leaving them with.

From checking reviews and asking the right questions, to making sure they’re insured, experienced and genuinely understand your dog’s individual needs, there are a few things I’d always recommend checking first.

And remember… if something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t!

Save this post for the next time you’re looking for a dog sitter, and send it to a fellow dog owner who might find it useful! 🐾

Anyone else had the week from hell?!

From the minute I woke up on Monday morning, I could feel there was a dark cloud above my head.

It’s now Friday and can confirm it didn’t get any better.

I’ve not felt myself, I’ve felt down and quite miserable to be honest.

I’ve tried my best to not let this show and put on a smile but it’s been exhausting, so sorry to anyone that may have picked up on it over the week.

I’ve got two pop-ins to do and then I’m officially checked out for the weekend. I’m gonna spend some time with friends and family and sleep. Lots of it!

Hoping to be back to normal asap!
