Happy Paws Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

Happy Paws Dog Walker & Pet Sitter Happy Paws where your dog/pets comes first Hello fellow dog lovers! My name is Caroline and I'm the owner of Happy Paws.

I started my business because I'm passionate about dogs and I love spending time with them. If you're looking for a reliable and caring dog walker, I'm here to help! I offer a variety of services, including 30-minute and 60-minute walks, as well as longer hikes for more active dogs. I can also provide feeding and medication services if needed. What sets my business apart from other dog walking services is my commitment to safety and personalized care. I take the time to get to know each dog and their owner, so I can provide the best possible care. I walk all kinds of dogs, from small breeds to large breeds, and I'm comfortable working with dogs of all temperaments. With the owner's permission and if their recall is spot on, I can also take dogs off-lead in safe areas. I'm available Monday through Sunday, so I can work with clients to find a schedule that fits their needs. When I'm walking dogs, safety is always my top priority. I only walk dogs on a leash in areas where it's required, and I always make sure the dog is wearing a collar or harness with their owner's and my contact information,
This is an important safety measure in case the dog gets lost or separated from the pack, I also use a tractive on who ever if off lead just for that added security and peace of mind. I also carry a first aid kit and water for both myself and the dog. I've received great feedback from clients who appreciate my personalized care and attention to detail. I love hearing about how happy their dogs are after a walk with me, and I'm always happy to provide updates and photos during the walk. If you're looking for a reliable and caring dog walker, look no further than my business. I'm passionate about providing the best possible care for dogs, and I'd love to help your furry friend get the exercise and fresh air they need. I also carry a spare leash and collar in case of emergencies. Safety is always my top priority when I'm working with animals, and I take every precaution to ensure that the pets in my care are safe and well-cared for. Get in touch with me today to schedule a consultation and learn more about my services!

🚨 HEAT STROKE IS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY 🐾

We all hope we never have to deal with heat stroke, but knowing what to do could save your dog's life.

If your dog starts showing signs such as heavy panting, struggling to breathe, bright red gums, weakness, wobbling, vomiting or collapse, every minute matters.

The most important thing is to:
🐾 Move them somewhere cool.
🐾 Start cooling them with cold (not ice-cold) water.
🐾 Offer small sips of water if they're able to drink.
🐾 Contact your vet immediately and continue cooling them on the way.

Please take a few minutes to read through this guide. Hopefully you'll never need it, but if you do, you'll know what to do.

❤️ Please save this post and share it with other dog owners. The more people who know the signs, the more dogs we can help protect.

🚗 “I’ll only be two minutes…”

That’s what so many people think.

Just popping into the shop.
Just paying for fuel.
Just grabbing a coffee.
Just dropping something off.

But for a dog left in a parked car, those few minutes can be enough for things to become dangerous.

You can walk back out of that shop.
Your dog can’t get out of that car.

It doesn’t matter if the windows are cracked.
It doesn’t matter if you parked in the shade.
It doesn’t matter if your dog “seems fine”.
It doesn’t matter if you think you’ll be quick.

Cars heat up fast, and dogs can overheat far quicker than people realise.

Please don’t take the risk.

If your dog can’t come inside with you, the safest place for them is at home.

❤️ Leave them at home. Take the love, not the risk.

Please share this. Every summer, dogs still suffer in hot cars, and so much of it is preventable.

🐾 Prevention is always better than cure.

☀️ HOT WEATHER DO'S & DON'TS 🐾

When the temperatures rise, it's often the little things that make the biggest difference.

Here are a few simple reminders to help keep your dog safe:

✅ DO
🐾 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening.
🐾 Keep fresh, cool water available at all times.
🐾 Make sure your dog has access to shade.
🐾 Let them rest and keep exercise to a minimum.
🐾 Watch for the early signs of heat stroke.

❌ DON'T
🐾 Walk during the hottest part of the day.
🐾 Leave your dog in a car – even for a few minutes.
🐾 Walk on hot pavements or artificial grass without checking them first.
🐾 Assume every dog copes with the heat the same. Flat-faced breeds, older dogs, puppies and dogs with health conditions are all at a much higher risk.

Remember, dogs don't need a long walk every day, especially in extreme temperatures. A day spent keeping cool is far safer than pushing them through the heat.

❤️ If this helps even one dog stay safe this summer, it's worth sharing. Please feel free to share this post with other dog owners.

💧 NO WALK TODAY? HERE ARE 10 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR DOG COOL AND HAPPY! 🐾

Not every hot day needs to include a walk.

Dogs don't need hours of exercise when the temperature is high. In fact, on really hot days, keeping them cool is far more important.

Here are a few simple ways to help them stay comfortable:

💧 Keep topping up fresh, cool water.
❄️ Offer frozen Kongs, lick mats or healthy frozen treats.
🌳 Make sure they have plenty of shade.
🛏️ Use cooling mats or let them lie on cool tiled floors.
💦 Gently cool them with cold water (not ice-cold water).
🌬️ Keep the air moving with a fan or open windows where it's safe.
🐾 Avoid hot pavements.
🧠 Try enrichment games instead of a long walk.

Remember, a tired dog isn't always a happy dog. Mental stimulation and keeping cool can be just as rewarding on a hot day.

❤️ How do you keep your dog cool in the summer? Let me know in the comments, I love hearing new ideas!

☀️ IS IT TOO HOT TO WALK YOUR DOG? 🐾

Heat stroke can happen much quicker than people realise, and sadly it can be life threatening.

One of the biggest myths is that it's only the air temperature that matters. It isn't. Humidity plays a huge role too. When the air is humid, dogs struggle to cool themselves by panting, even if the temperature doesn't seem excessively high.

It's also important to remember that every dog is different. Flat-faced breeds, older dogs, puppies, overweight dogs and dogs with underlying health conditions are all at a much higher risk.

Before heading out, ask yourself:

🐾 Have I checked both the temperature and humidity?

🐾 Is the pavement safe? Test it with the back of your hand for 5 seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for their paws.

🐾 Can I walk earlier in the morning or later in the evening when it's cooler?

🐾 Have I taken fresh water, and can I keep the walk shorter than usual?

🐾 If in doubt, skip the walk. Missing one walk is far safer than risking heat stroke.

As a professional dog walker, I know dogs love getting out and exploring. But their safety will always come first. I'd rather disappoint an owner than risk a dog becoming seriously ill.

❤️ If you found this helpful, please give it a share. You never know whose dog it could help this summer.

🐾 Prevention is always better than cure.

Happy Paws is 12 today 🐾

When I started Happy Paws 12 years ago, I never imagined how much it would become part of my life. It’s been dogs who’ve trusted me, routines that became second nature, and moments that quietly mattered more than I realised at the time.
It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always been worth it. Happy Paws has grown and adapted alongside me, and I’m incredibly proud that it’s still here, still mine, and still centred around the dogs.
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey, especially the dogs who made it what it is 🐶🤍
Still putting pets first. Always.

💔 A Sad Goodbye 💔

Yesterday was a hard day, we said goodbye to lovely Lilly, a dog I’d cared for for over 7 years. 🐾

She wasn’t mine, but she became part of my family. Because dogs aren’t just pets, they’re family, always.

Lilly had such a calm, gentle way about her. She never asked for much, just loved quietly and deeply. Being around her made the world feel softer.

I like to think she’s now crossed the rainbow bridge and Oz was there waiting for her, tails wagging, side by side again. 🌈🕊️🐶

It’s not easy letting go of a dog you’ve loved for so long, even if they weren’t yours. She’ll always have a piece of my heart.

Sleep tight, sweet girl. Thank you for the love. 🤍🐾
