Yesterday turned into one of the biggest and most challenging rescues we’ve ever been involved in. After seeing a Facebook post about a terrified dog stranded by the railway tracks, we headed straight out to help. Our first attempt to secure her safely in the crate was interrupted when, in the chaos of the scene, she became spooked and darted free, running straight into traffic, turning a difficult rescue into a desperate effort to keep her in sight and bring her to safety. She then began too sprint across a busy roundabout near Northwick Park Hospital. My partner ran after her, refusing to lose sight even if it meant sprinting a the entire mile into a building site behind the hospital. I stayed behind stopping traffic before chasing after. A kind stranger even gave me a lift on a motorbike to catch up. She eventually cornered herself in a building site, and together we managed to get a make shift slip lead around her neck and lift her to safety, despite her being completely terrified. When we scanned her microchip, it wasn’t registered, but after contacting the dog warden, we discovered her owners had reported her missing. The best news of all, she’s now safely back home with her family. This rescue couldn’t have happened without true teamwork, determination, and the kindness of complete strangers. To everyone who stopped, pointed us in the right direction, gave lifts, or offered help, thank you. Your kindness truly made a difference. Days like this remind us why we do what we do. So glad you’re safe beautiful girl.
