While there is a variety of pollen available, there is a dearth of nectar. Willow can provide a little nectar but it's not generous, while pine and gorse give no nectar at all. Colonies will be burning through their stores very quickly and starvation is common at this time of year.

Designed to mimic natural nectar, this easily digestible feed provides bees with both moisture and energy when foraging conditions are poor or winter stores are difficult to use.
40% syrup is ideal for late winter and spring build-up (February-April) and good for nucleus support and emergency feeding throughout the active season.
40% syrup also assists colonies in unlocking crystallised or ivy-bound honey stores, allowing bees to re-liquefy and consume previously unusable food without relying on risky water flights.
Note: daytime temperature needs to be higher than ~12 °C for bees to be able to break cluster and take syrup feeds.
Our syrup is also available in 50% and 60% strengths.
