Glamping update: the loo and shower are ready! 🚿🌿

Our 1000L water tank has had its deep clean and sterilise, and it’s now ready to fill for shower use. It’s wearing a smart black cover too — this’ll help pre-warm the water naturally and stop any algae getting a foothold. Add in our Joolca showering tent and LPG heating for proper comfort, and you’ve got a shower that feels like it’s straight out of nature, but completely private.

The composting loo is all cleaned out and ready to go too. We’re using eco wood bark to help break down solids, and here’s the fun part — after about a year, that compost gets to nourish the very planting scheme we’ve got planned for the site. One big nature cycle, and everyone gets to play their part (in a slightly cheeky way, but hey, it works). A proper loo tent is now up and waiting — photos to follow soon!

We’re brand new to this whole glamping game, so bear with us as we figure it out. It’s all part of the adventure. 🏕️

As some of you will have seen, our first bell tent is up and looking gorgeous out on the field — but a tent’s only half the story. Now we’re on the hunt for some furniture to make it feel like a proper home-from-home for our glamping guests.

We’re after anything with a bit of character:
🪑 Chairs (wooden, wicker, vintage — the more charm the better)
🛏️ Side tables or small chests of drawers
🪞 Rugs, mirrors, lanterns, or anything that adds a cosy glow
🧺 Baskets, trunks, or storage-with-style

If you’ve got something sitting in a shed or garage that’s too good to skip but not quite earning its keep, we’d love to give it a second life under canvas. Happy to collect locally, and a shoutout (or a cuppa!) is always on offer for anyone who helps us out. 💛

Our first 6m bell tent is officially up — off-grid, LPG shower, composting loo, the whole shebang — and watching her go from a stack of canvas to this against the Ashdown dusk made every late night of planning worth it.

Getting a tent this size taut and true isn’t a five-minute job. The guy lines need proper tension, the canvas needs to breathe into shape overnight, and there’s a real satisfaction in stepping back afterwards to see it standing square and solid, ready for its first guests.

This is glamping the way we do everything else at East View — hands-on, done properly, and with a bit of forest magic thrown in. Wake up to birdsong, hack out across the Ashdown, and come back to a proper shower and a real bed under canvas.
