🐾 If you have a dog that suffers from anxiety, is nervous of people, cars, other dogs, strange objects, or has a noise sensitivity to certain sounds, and who always feels like the only way they can express themselves is through fear related reactivity by barking, lunging and growling, BPawsitive can help.🐶

We also can help the shy, quiet dogs by gently building their confidence in a way that won’t overwhelm them or scare them further by helping them to build positive associations in a scary world.

Becky is a fully qualified, force free positive reinforcement dog training and advanced canine behaviour specialist as well as a canine trauma and rescue expert so you can be assured that your best friend will be treated with kindness, empathy and respect.❤️

Using up to date, non aversive, scientifically proven techniques and working to the strict code of ethics as laid out in the UK dog behaviour and training charter we work with you and your dog in a friendly, professional and non judgmental manner.👍🏻

Here in the UK, dog behaviour and training is, sadly, unregulated.

The Charter is changing this.

We are setting standards for self-regulation. Every member organisation chooses to be part of this commitment and agrees to uphold the standards we believe all dog guardians should be able to expect. Just as importantly, member organisations agree to be held accountable by the Charter’s independent Oversight Committee if there is an unsatisfactory complaint outcome within their own organisation.

So, what does that mean in practice? Confidence.

For dog guardians it means – CONFIDENCE
🐾 You can use our website to see which organisations are members of The Charter.
🐾 You can then assess your local dog behaviourists and trainers to see if they are a member
🐾 You know that they will put the emotional wellbeing of your dog first
🐾 They have studied, and continue to study, the science and the methodology to give you the best help they possibly can
🐾 If you have concerns, every member organisation has its own complaints process, and you have recourse to the Charter Oversight Committee if you are not satisfied with the outcome.

For members of member organisations, it means – CONFIDENCE
✔️ Your organisation is aiming high. You are qualified within a structure that is preparing for regulation and helping ensure that, when regulation comes, you are recognised for the work you have studied hard to do.
✔️ You are supported and have like-minded professionals from other organisations you can work with, safe in the knowledge that you all work to the same standards
✔️ You don’t have to go and do yet another course to ensure you will be able to continue practising in a regulated environment

For other dog professionals it means – CONFIDENCE
😊 If you are working with members from any of our member organisations, they have knowledge and experience you can rely on
😊 They want to work with you and will only work with you through a vet referral, this is standard practice

We are also immensely proud of our supporting members: organisations and companies that share our mindset and ethics, believe in what we stand for, and stand with us as we continue to push standards forward. We are grateful for their support, belief and encouragement. For more info go to the link in comments.

⭐️ Very proud and honoured to have won this award for 4 consecutive years now.

It’s not about winning, although it’s nice to be recognised, it’s about helping dogs and their people to find a kinder more ethical way to train.🐶

Without my wonderful clients, who are dedicated to, and love their dogs, this wouldn’t be possible. Thank you for keeping force free training in the spotlight.

Thank you for another wonderful year.👏❤️🐾

📖 NEW BLOG NOW LIVE 📖

Can you genuinely love what you do… and still sometimes want to give up?

Absolutely.

My latest blog is inspired by my conversation with Becky Walker from BPawsitive on The Pet Business Wellbeing Podcast:

Force-Free Dog Training, Imposter Syndrome and Staying in Business When You Want to Give Up

Becky and I talked very openly about the reality behind running a dog business.

Not just the lovely bits.

We explore:

🐾 Moving from corporate life into dog training

🐾 Building a business during the pandemic

🐾 Why old-fashioned word of mouth still works

🐾 Why dog walking is far more skilled than people sometimes realise

🐾 Staying committed to force-free positive reinforcement training

🐾 Ethics and animal welfare

🐾 The culture of quick fixes

🐾 CPD and shiny course syndrome 😂

🐾 Imposter syndrome

🐾 Professional loneliness and finding your support network

🐾 Those moments when getting a “proper job” sounds very tempting

One of Becky's reflections really stayed with me:

Even if you make a difference to one person and one dog, sometimes that is enough.

We spend so much time measuring followers, income, bookings and growth that it is easy to forget the actual humans and animals whose lives are different because of the work we do.
