Day 3 of the The DoGenius Institute Field Trip.

Visiting places quite literally off the beaten track, learning the lives of Cypriot Hunting Dogs that cannot be understood quite like this… unless you live it. Truly eye opening…

A visit to the council funded pound, meeting the most adorable puppies.

Downtime by the beach, shipwreck for views 🥰

Lucky doesn’t even cut it…

Day 2 of the The DoGenius Institute Field Trip

Another day of having the chance to see and experience things I wouldn’t get the opportunity to back home.

Breeds I would never see in the UK.

Dogs so large and powerful that their chances of rehoming are already slim the moment they are born.

What an experience… May we grow so can can be better deserving of them 😔❤️

Day 1 of the The DoGenius Institute Field Trip

To say today has been an emotional rollercoaster would be an understatement. There is a lot to say… but what I feel I want to believe after today is very simple…

I want to believe every human involved in the care of animals is doing what they believe is the right thing. How that translates can be morally and ethically ambiguous…

But I have to believe that people who care for animals, somewhere along the line; began with kind intentions and the best interests and the welfare of that species.

Very lucky to be heading to Cyprus tomorrow on what has been a buck list trip 3 years in the making 😍😍😍😍

Very lucky to be heading to Cyprus tomorrow on what has been a buck list trip 3 years in the making 😍😍😍😍

Studying canine behaviour can take you to some unexpected places. Cyprus, for example.

Our next DoGenius student trip brings together rescue visits, behaviour observation and discussions by the Mediterranean — an opportunity to connect what we teach with the lives of dogs and the people caring for them.
We’ll be visiting four rescue organisations, exploring different environments and considering the practical challenges of meeting dogs’ behavioural and welfare needs.

Then we’ll head to a beach bar to talk it all through. Time to ask questions, share perspectives and get to know fellow students beyond a name on a screen.

This is something special about learning with The DoGenius Institute: opportunities to spend time together, broaden your experience and see your studies from a different perspective.
And yes, there will be sunshine, sea views and evenings in the local tavernas too.

Wish you were coming? Follow along as we share our visit, and comment CYPRUS if you’d like to hear about future opportunities.

Tripadvisor has stopped selling tickets to most horse-racing experiences under its updated Animal Welfare Policy.

The company says the restriction applies to activities where domesticated animals face a heightened risk of injury or passing for sport or entertainment. Most dog and camel racing, along with rodeo-style events, are covered too.

Tripadvisor has restricted bookings for certain animal attractions since 2016, while its current policy was last updated in May 2026.

The platform also uses animal-welfare labels to help travelers identify attractions that do or do not meet its guidelines.

But that doesn’t mean racetracks disappear from the site. Travelers can still find listings and read reviews, but affected venues now carry the warning: “This business does not currently meet Tripadvisor’s Animal Welfare Policy.”

Experiences associated with those listings are no longer eligible for sale through Tripadvisor or its subsidiary Viator.

Tripadvisor’s decision won’t end horse racing, but it does mean one of the world’s biggest travel platforms will no longer profit from selling tickets to most races.

And it leaves travelers with a question worth considering: should animals face a heightened risk of harm simply for our entertainment?
