Unfortunately we can’t accept anymore birds at the moment. The good thing is that we bought a house so soon we’ll be resuming with more capacity, better facilities and proper environment, instead of running a rescue from a rented flat that was a lot less than ideal for us and the birds. However that means that I need at least 2 weeks for renovations to prepare the quarantine rooms up to the appropriate standard. It’s probably obvious that I won’t be around as much so I can’t observe the new arrivals, and I’m not there to hand feed the birds who might need it more often.

I will also be a lot slower seeing and replying to your messages.

On a more rare occasion I can help with injuries - things like strapping a wing or splitting a leg, or similar - but I can’t provide the ongoing care. I’ll do my best to have the work done as quickly as possible which will be a challenge in itself because I still have many many birds to look after at the moment. Thank you for your patience and understanding 💚🕊️

This year Christmas came in the summer! 🥳 how else could it be - we received the incredibly generous donation of a life saving equipment - the new incubator Brinsea TLC 40 💚
I’m so grateful to Kevin and folks at as pigeons rarely get gifts like that and this will be incredibly helpful and life saving 🙏

A little backstory - Kevin brought us two yellow babies a week or so ago, rescued from the building site as they were unwanted there. At the time, I had another two yellow babies (Stirling babies who hatched here) growing up in the incubator, they were a little older. Given how quickly pigeons grow, they were starting to fledge but not ready to leave the incubator yet. Normally, I slowly decrease the temperature as they grow. It also got crowded - my portable incubator is tiny and having 4 babies in there was getting full. So Kevin kindly suggested he could work with Farplace Animal Rescue to get us another, bigger incubator - and they did!
This is truly amazing and given how many birds come to us for help, it’ll save many many lives. Thank you Kevin and Farplace Animal Rescue! 💚🙏🕊️

Happy Pigeon Appreciation Day! 🕊️🥳
Today’s date was chosen to commemorate the passing of Cher Ami, a famous homing pigeon who served in World War I. Cher Ami played a crucial role in saving the lives of American soldiers by delivering a message that alerted them to the danger they were in.
Pigeon Appreciation Day aims to raise awareness about the intelligence, navigation skills, and historical contributions of pigeons. They have been used as messengers, played a vital role in warfare, and continue to be useful in various contexts.
However, we should appreciate pigeons without exploiting them or finding ways for them to be useful to humans! They’re domestic, gentle birds and make wonderful companions. They deserve so much better 💚🕊️

Chatts the champ! This is his story 💚

I love straightforward easy cases like this. Chatts arrived on Sunday the 9th of March. The person who found him was concerned and thought his wing was broken - understandably so because he couldn’t fly. However, after checking him over we realised he doesn’t have a broken wing but rather a lump on the joint. This was a septic arthritis caused by paratyphoid that often presents as joint swelling and could be seen in wings and legs. We started treatment right away - a long course of antibiotics and some anti inflammatories have cleared up the wing nicely. After that we followed with probiotics to rebuild his gut microbiome, along with supplements for general immunity. He had some practice flying indoors and was successfully released back to his flock on Saturday 12th of April. He was named Chatts because he was chatty and liked to coo a lot. Very beautiful bird 🥰 good luck Chatts 🕊️💚👋
