We always get a bit of hate when we put up our Just Giving to try to get help with dogs we are rehoming but just let me explain.
We have a dog we haven't put up yet, she is another lovely GSD and very sweet. No other charity or shelter would take her in (surprise surprise). One of her issues is she can't go to a vets without having to be sedated. Now to fix the issue I need to get her in an environment where she needs to go on a table and have someone be able to inspect her. So for this I took her to a groomer to practice getting her on the table and having the groomer just touch her back, sides and underneath her. This costs money but on this occassion Tailsdoggrooming kindly donated her time to help the dog in question. Now the issue isn't fixed yet, I will need to do it once or twice more. Training costs money and we don't take dogs in and hand them to new owners the way we get them, we train them to cope with everyday life that most dogs find stressful. We also need to pay for their vaccinations, insurance, food, grooming, flea/worming. Some dogs we get in, their owners cover their food, vaccinations etc but most don't. It usually comes out of our own pockets. We do get food donated and we get some money donated to our Just Giving page which does help us but we still need to put our own money towards the bills. So before anyone wants to give us hate for trying to raise money to help dogs we are rehoming just remember, these are dogs no one else wanted to take because they wouldn't be able to quickly rehome and make money from. Even our rehoming fee is way less than everywhere else because it isn't about making money off of them or getting rich, it's about helping them get a life they deserve. Why? Because these dogs need someone to fight their corner for them.
I will post videos of Zara of what the money gets used for so everyone can get more of an insight to what we actually do with the dogs. We also give the new owners hours of free sessions to make sure the dog listens to them, to make sure they are compatible and to train the dog for their lifestyle. The dogs aren't as limited to where they can go like they would be with charities and most other shelters 🐾
