‼️ With a heatwave on the way and temperatures expect to reach as high as 39C in parts of the UK, we need to keep a closer eye on our furry friends. ‼️

A dog's age, breed, and size all impact their risk of getting heat stroke - so it's important to take that into consideration when planning out your walks in the heat.

Always keep an eye out for the signs of heat stroke:

- Heavy panting or noisy breathing
- Excessive drooling or thick saliva
- Weakness, dizziness, or collapse
- Red gums or tongue
- Rapid heartbeat or shivering
- Vomiting or diarrhea

If your dog shows the signs of heat stroke, remember WET then VET!!!

Don't hesitate start cooling your dog with water and wet towel as soon as you suspect heat stroke.

No dog has ever died from missing a walk - but they have from going out when it's too hot.

Chefs Trinny & Pip kindly demonstrated the recipe for every dog’s favourite sweet treat: Liver Cake! 🎂

Were making a big batch for all the dogs for the week ahead.

(Warning: it might not be very sweet 🤣)

➡️ 500g raw liver (Any type)
➡️ 1 Cup /125 g of Flour -( Self Rising or Plain )
➡️ 1 egg

✨ Method ✨
1️⃣ Blend the liver in a mixing bowl.
You can use a food processor or a hand blender for this.

2️⃣ Add the Egg/s and fold into the mix

3️⃣ Mix the flour in slowly, a small amount at a time-
If this still seems very meaty and has not thickened, mix in more flour as required, a little at a time

4️⃣ Pour into a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper - grease it too,it so that it is easy to get out!

5️⃣ Bake in the oven at 180 degrees C (gas mark 4) for around 25-40 minutes.
This will vary greatly depending on the depth of tin/tray.

You can tell it is cooked through by doing the same test used on sponge cake.
(Insert a knitting needle/sharp knife skewer of knife into the cake , if the mixture does not stick to the utensil when extracted the cake is ready . )

Check that it is firm and leave to cool

Cut and serve! (The best bit according to our chefs)

Thickness and rise will depend on the flour used. There are lots of variations of this recipe available.

Another Border Collie in action! ⬇️

We've been working with Jade the collie on place training in different locations in our recent sessions. Getting this down is a an incredibly useful skill, letting you:

➡️ Have a place to send your dog to when the door goes
➡️ Be controlled and calm in pubs and cafes
➡️ There own space to be comfortable in when in new locations
➡️ Great way of training your dog to focus on being still in one spot
📸 And helpful for getting them to stay still for snaps like this!
