I've been running this page since 2009-10. In that time, I have made a few posts which are not related to dog training, probably 4 in total. They've all been about the political culture in the world, but not about party politics.
This week we saw a pogrom in Belfast. We saw the attempts at one in Southampton last week and the police in Glasgow acted swiftly on Tuesday night as right wing thugs tried to march on a place of worship, potentially thwarting another one.
"A pogrom is a violent, organized riot or mob attack aimed at massacring or expelling a specific ethnic, religious, or national group. A key feature is that these attacks are typically condoned, ignored, or actively encouraged by local authorities or governments."
My use of the word is careful and not used as hyperbole. In Belfast this week, a female nurse was chased by an angry mob, a woman fled her home with her children because they was in fear of being burned in their home. Two shop owners in Glasgow had to barricade themselves in their shop because of an angry, racist mob outside.
All because they were brown.
Brown and black people were warned to stay in doors for a night or two.
In the UK. In Scotland. In 2026. 82 years after the Allies started freeing Europe from the same type of people.
These last two weeks, certain elected Members of Parliament and members of The Scottish Parliament both refused to condemn these pogroms, and both actively and passively encouraged them.
The November Pogrom (Kristallnacht), The Kielce Pogrom. Acts against Jews in the 1930s and 1940s should, SHOULD, warn us about where these events can go, if we, the community, do not stand up to these racist thugs. This started in this country in the last decade, this is where we are now. History tells us where it can go next.
If we watch a film or TV show about WW2 and empathise with Jewish refugees and those assisting them, but in any way excuse, rationalise, condone, or justify what is happening here against black and brown people, we are hypocrites.
If we don't react to the murder of a white person by another white person, the same way as we do to the murder of a white person by a black or brown person, we're racist bigots.
The immigrant isn't the reason the country is where it is in terms of housing, health care, education, policing, and other public services - billionaires hoarding wealth is the cause. The sole cause.
Every time you use the word "immigrant" in a derogatory way, replace it with "Jew" and think about what you sound like.
We wonder how the events in the 1930s and 40s in Europe happened. Whatever you are doing now in your attitude towards migrants, will give you a really clear indication of how you'd likely acted then, but towards Jewish people.
It doesn't need to be like this. We are decent people, we need to stand up for other human beings. There but for the grace of God go I.
Support this message if you are inclined to. If you want to object, save it and take your bigotry elsewhere. It's not welcome here.
There are many, many more of us than them. Don't let a loud minority of racist idiots drown us out.
EDIT - I'm not looking to engage in a debate on this online. This is a positional statement from our company. I've limited to comments and will delete any which justify these actions or "I'm not racist, but..." . I also have zero issue blocking people.
