☀️ As the weather starts to warm up, it’s worth knowing that some dogs feel the heat more than others.

Flat-faced (brachycephalic) breeds - like bulldogs, pugs, and shih tzus - can struggle more because their airways make it harder to cool down through panting.

Larger dogs and heavier-built breeds can also find it tougher, as they generate and hold more body heat.

Even on what feels like a comfortable day to us, these dogs can become overwhelmed much quicker.

That’s why, during warmer weather, we may:
• Adjust appointment times
• Recommend quieter, cooler parts of the day
• Suggest avoiding walks to and from us where possible

It’s all about understanding each dog and doing what’s safest for them 💛

If you’re ever unsure, we’re always happy to advise.
