Attended an address in South Shields today on behalf of Pawz for Thought to try and rescue a Young Gull that was trapped on a Chimney and in a lot of distress. With the help of Tyne and Wear Fire & Rescue, it was found that the Gull was actually impaled on a poorly maintained Anti-Bird device. The poor young thing has probably crash landed straight on to a spike!! Rescue Crews managed to free it and it is now receiving much needed TLC at Pawz for Thought. Massive thanks to the member of the public for calling it in and to the lads from the Tyne and Wear Fire & Rescue for their time, effort and speedy response! 😁

Why would anyone do this!?!

This is beyond belief and it’s getting worse.

This poor cat was deliberately discarded in a black bin bag and left on an isolated path near allotments in freezing conditions. A dog luckily alerted their owner to something in the bag — without that, she almost certainly wouldn’t have been found.

She is one of the worst cases of neglect I have seen: untreated tumours, horrific flea infestation, and painfully thin from long-term starvation. She was clearly suffering and I honestly don’t believe she could have survived much longer.

The lady who found her has severe allergies to cats, yet she did not hesitate for a second to help.

Whoever did this intentionally abandoned her in a place where she was unlikely to be found. There is absolutely no excuse for this level of cruelty. They should be ashamed.

If anyone has any information of the previous owner in the Sunderland area please get in touch as we would love to investigate this further
