Widget's Farm Widget's Farm is over 14 acres of lovely countryside with ample secure space dedicated to dog training, rehab and secure field hire.

Run by an accredited clinical animal behaviourist, Widget's Farm is a dedicated dog behaviour, training and rehab centre set in 14 acres in Standerwick, near Frome. Our training approach is to use learning theory to motivate and reward animals for the desired behaviours, and to change their negative view of a situation where one exists. We end up with happy, healthy dogs which learn to cope with stress and make better choices. Anna, Widget's human, has an MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour from Lincoln University, and is a member of a number of professional training and behaviour organisations. She also undertakes regular CPD to ensure Widget's Farm always provides the most up to date science-based training. We are also fully insured and staff are qualified in first aid. Located on the Somerset / Wiltshire border, we cover Frome, Bath, Trowbridge, Bradford-on-Avon, Shepton Mallet and the surrounding areas.

Just spent four hours trying to get a p*e sample from a suspicious puppy. Felt like a useless undercover cop who had been made in the first 5 seconds. Thankfully my patience outlasted her bladder control!

Lesson learnt - don't put the catcher in place too quick as the shop can still shut at the start. Wait for a few seconds in because then they're committed. IYKYK.

ARGHH, TEENAGERS!!
Do you have a young dog that is driving you up the wall? Pulling you everywhere on lead? Rushing at everyone and causing you to spend walks apologising to strangers?

If so, come join our Adolescent Class! Open to all young dogs aged up to 18 months at start and who haven't trained at Widgets before.

We use modern, positive, effective techniques that will deal with all those teenage issues and bring calm back to your relationship. The course also includes training notes, video demos, weekly challenges and phone support as needed.

🐝The Training Field is now back open after we found a ground wasp nest at the weekend. Well technically, Bumble found the nest and decided to run to me to share his bad decisions. I gather wasps are drunk and angry at the moment and these little buggers were certainly not looking to make friends - if you have training with me at the moment, I apologise for all the scratching.

You'll all be pleased to know that perfect Puffin was untouched by the incident and continues to coast unhindered through her charmed life. She even had great fun chasing poor Bumble around while he was battling the swarm.
