More than 36 field trial wins, and not a single social media account.

Kevin Doughty has been competing gundogs since 1979, captains the England gundog team, and has added a southern selection day so handlers in the south get a fair run at it.

LFG Tom!!! 🏆🏆

Bruno achieved a B qualification to the IGL 2026 with his first run of the season. This was at the beautiful Windsor estate by kind permission of HM King Charles III.

It was a brilliantly organised trial by the IGL committee and the head keeper, with guns shooting exceptionally well. I really enjoyed competing and came second to a deserved winner. Judges did a great job in balancing fairness to the dogs and handlers, whilst setting some very challenging and testing retrieves.

Hopefully I get drawn in some more trials now 🤞

Something new is nearly ready…

I’ve been putting together another training guide, this time looking at how I develop handling beyond simply sending a dog on straight lines.

Building casts. Changing direction. Developing commitment without losing the dog’s ability to listen and change its mind.

The individual exercises aren’t particularly complicated. The interesting part is how we begin joining them together.

“The picture changes.
The answer remains the same.”

Beyond Straight Lines — coming soon.
