This rescue was set up to help the plight of pound dogs, these are dogs that are on 'death row' in UK pounds. This includes dogs that have been abandoned, surrendered or left to stray. Some have only 7 days to be reclaimed by their owners. If they are not, they are put to sleep. The enormous number of dogs, mainly staffies
on 'put to sleep lists' lead us to want to help these unfortunate family pets. Few people realise that many healthy dogs, through no fault of their own, are being destroyed if not claimed within the week. The name poundies
Poundies are dogs that are abused, dumped, abandoned; unwanted souls that find themselves with 7 days to live in, generally, appalling conditions. Named ‘poundies’ as these conditions are council pounds across the UK that are ‘home’ to these dogs awaiting their death. Many people are under the impression that a dog must be "bad" in some way to end up being dumped and in a council pound; have a look at the photos and updates of some of our available pound dogs in their foster homes and of our own dogs most of the volunteers that help this rescue have pound dogs living in their homes - proof that this is not always the case.
