Henry VIII was fond of dogs 🐕 and he had a spaniel named Cutte and another dog named Ball.

Both of them had a tendency to get lost which caused Henry great discomfort. He would offer a substantial reward. Cutte, for instance, disappeared in May 1530 and than again in February 1531.

The dog was wearing a high quality and distinctive collar of velvet and cloth of gold emblazoned with the king's initials . These features helped tracking him down.

The chains were sometimes made of silver or silk . Anyone who found the dogs have been in no doubt as to their owner.

Let's talk about this photo. It's cute, except it's not. This is a dog who cannot get up without telling the child to get off. How do you think a dog is going to do that?

The 7 Golden Toddler Dog Rules:
#1: If a dog walks away from you, you DO NOT FOLLOW.
#2: Always leave room for the dog to walk away from you.
---that right there is 90% of dog bites eliminated---
#3: We do not climb on the dog.
#4: We do not grab or pull on the dog.
#5: We do not hit or throw anything at the dog.
#6: We do not touch the dog's food.
#7: We do not go into the dog's kennel.

These are not overly difficult concepts for littles, nor will they rob a kid of their bond with the family dog. It will deepen that bond, while keeping everyone safe.

DOG ATTACK - WHAT TO DO!

Engaging in physical actions such as striking, kicking, punching, or slapping a dog that is involved in an attack on another dog, oneself, or a child is comparable to instructing someone to 'calm down' during a confrontation. These behaviors typically serve to escalate and exacerbate the situation.

In the midst of an attack, a dog in a fight or prey-driven state (which is significantly different from fear driven reactivity!) is unlikely to immediately perceive pain from physical stimuli and may even become more agitated if they do register pain, potentially escalating their aggression.

It is distressing to observe situations where individuals try to intervene in an attack by waving lightweight objects near a dog that is actively eating alive another.

Given the level of force necessary to effectively stop such an attack, it would likely have to be substantial, potentially requiring the aggressive animal to be rendered unconscious.

In the recent incident involving a dog fatally attacking its owner, that dog had to be shot four times to be stopped. This exemplifies the challenge in stopping an animal hell bent on finishing what it started.

Kindly bear in mind that in the event of a dog attack, should you find yourself involved or present at the scene, attempting to use human force against a powerful breed is ineffective. Breed types such as XL Bullies have been selectively bred to possess strength surpassing that of humans.

Employing a slip lead or a similar device to choke the attacking dog is the swiftest and most dependable method to prompt the dog to release its bite.

Yes, you read right. The purpose of the slip lead is to strangulate the aggressive dog, serving as a tourniquet rather than as a regular lead. They may have power, teeth and muscle but the throat is a vulnerable place and all living beings require oxygen to function.

While discussing this subject may be challenging, the dissemination of this information could potentially prevent other tragic outcomes.

If you really worry about finding yourself in this situation, having yourself, child or your dog attacked by a powerful dog of any breed, carry a slip lead in your pocket while out on walks.

The microbiome of a non -aggressive dog has higher levels of bacteroides vulgatus compared to that of an aggressive dog. The dog profiles of aggressive versus non-aggressive were significantly different using the weighted Unifrac metric.
It’s possible to increase vulgatus by feeding or increasing animal-based proteins- particularly from red meat or dairy (kefir has a similar effect).
The type of protein is important and though soya contains higher levels at 30g per 100g it has a different effect on the biome.
Dogs fed plant-based protein have an increase in biome percentages of ruminococcaceae (relating to an increase in aggression) rather than increasing levels of bacteroides vulgatus.

This saying is probably the most inappropriate and potentially disastrous sentence in the dog world.

"It's all in how you raise them."

Genetics play a significant role in a dog's behaviour, not just how they are raised. The phrase 'It's all in how you raise them' overlooks the importance of a dog's genetic makeup and what they were bred for. Your dog's breed and genetic background are crucial factors that cannot be changed by love or affection. Let's reframe this common saying to focus on being educated about your dog's breed, function, needs, and working from there.
Because all the kisses and cuddles in the world, don't change and can't change where they come from.

The needs of a Belgian Malinois are more than most dogs, and if the stimulation, training, and socialization needs are not met, these dogs can develop reactivity and aggression, a very dangerous combination in a powerful breed bred for chasing and biting.

Why do Malinois like to bite?

Because they were:

Bred To Hunt, Chase, And To Bite

That's really it. They haven't been bred to be attractive, not been bred to be pretty. The Malinois has been bred to do a job. First, as a herding dog and today, to hunt people down.

Why do Belgian Malinois bite so much?

There are many tasks Malinois are bred for that require biting. It's actually a big part of there DNA

Why are Belgian Malinois difficult?

Because they were:

Bred To Hunt, Chase, And To Bite

This is a dog that does not do well with boredom – Mals can become restless and frustrated when they don't have a job to do. This means that they aren't well suited to households where the owners work long hours or travel often. Excess energy, coupled with such boredom, could have them tearing your house apart.

Are Belgian Malinois naturally aggressive?

These dogs are naturally protective of their family members due to their herding instincts, but such behavior can be problematic for visitors and unfamiliar guests. The Belgian Malinois can have aggressive tendencies if you fail to socialize them at a young age.
