🐕 DURHAM DOGS & CATS HOME FUN DOG SHOW 2026 🐕

Save the date, Durham. Our 20th anniversary dog show is coming to The Sands!

🐾 Sunday 27 September 2026
🐾 10.00 am to 3.00 pm
🐾 The Sands, Durham, DH1 1JY
🐾 FREE to attend

We’re delighted to have secured this fantastic city-centre location for what promises to be a great day out for dogs, their owners and the whole family.

Whether your dog is ready to compete or would rather watch from the sidelines and sniff everybody else, there’ll be plenty to enjoy.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll announce the dog-show classes, demonstrations, trade stalls and everything else planned for the day. Keep following our page for the latest news.

A big thank you to our friends at the Durham City Freemen and the City of Durham Parish Council for their support in helping us bring the show to The Sands. 🐶

🐾 URGENT APPEAL FOR OUR RESCUE DOGS 🐾

We are desperately short of suitable bedding for our rescue dogs and would be incredibly grateful for any donations. ❤️

We are currently in need of:
🛏️ Sheets
🧺 Towels
🛌 Duvet covers
🧣 Throws/blankets
🐶 Any other washable, suitable bedding that can help keep our dogs warm, comfortable and cosy.

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to accept duvets, pillows, anything containing stuffing/filling of any kind, or pillow cases. Thank you for understanding. 🙏

We are also running very low on:
🥫 Tinned meat in jelly — any brand is gratefully accepted!
🧼 Non-biological washing powder — something we get through a LOT of keeping everything clean and fresh for our dogs.

Every donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference to the dogs in our care. ❤️🐾

A huge thank you to rspcasunderland for inviting us along to their fantastic dog show at Lumley Castle today. We had a great day meeting lots of dogs, and quite a few humans too.

We also brought along some fresh off the press leaflets for our own Fun Dog Show, taking place on Sunday 27th September at The Sands in Durham. We’ll be sharing all the details over the next few days, so keep an eye on the page.

A few particularly lucky pups also managed to get their paws on one of our Golden Tickets, giving them free entry into a class of their choice at the show.

And there are plenty more Golden Tickets still to be found.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be popping up at different locations and handing them out to deserving dogs.

Follow the page and we’ll let you know where our next Golden Ticket drop will be. Who knows, your dog might be next.

Thank you to everyone who has dropped off donations this week, whether it be towels, sheets, or blankets, food, treats, or items for our charity shops. It all makes a huge difference to the animals in our care.
Pictured here is Brian from the big Tesco in Dragonville, who came with some lovely dog and cat treats. Also pictured is Heidi, a schnauzer cross. Heidi won't be getting many of the treats as she is a bit tubby at the minute and is on a diet.
