The amount of messages and phone calls we received about the puppy billy, has been absolutely crazy — we honestly can’t keep up! 🥹❤️

But it really makes us think about the adult dogs who haven’t had anywhere near the same interest. 💔 Just because they’re not tiny and fluffy anymore doesn’t mean they’re any less loving, deserving, or full of affection.

These “adult” dogs are still very young themselves, with so much life ahead of them and so much love to give. 🐾❤️ They have years of adventures, cuddles and happiness waiting for them.

Please don’t overlook them simply because they’re not small and cute. They deserve the same chance at a loving home, and we know just how much love they have to give to the right family. ❤️

💙 SONNIE DESERVES A CHANCE 💙

Sonnie is a 10-month-old Mali cross who has had a heartbreaking start in life. 💔

Yet one-to-one, he is a gentle, loving soul who loves to give you a kiss and have a cuddle and just wants someone to believe in him.

Sonnie doesn't appear to have ever experienced a proper walk. He's strong on the lead and needs someone patient who can teach him the things he should have learnt already.

He can react to other dogs on walks, but we've seen him settle when closer. He needs time, patience and understanding — not someone to give up on him.

🙏 Please, can someone give Sonnie the life he deserves?

His past wasn't his fault. His future doesn't have to be. ❤️🐾

🐾 WE'RE LOOKING FOR NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS! 🐾

Do you love dogs and want to make a real difference to the lives of stray and abandoned dogs in County Durham?

SoSad – Supporters of Stray and Abandoned Dogs is looking for new people to join our committee and help us continue the work we do.

We meet 6 times a year with the owners of Deerness Kennels and cattery and rescue centre . At these meetings, we discuss the rescue dogs, pay the vets' bills, talk about fundraising and social media, and look at how we can continue to support the dogs in our care.

There are lots of ways you can get involved, including:

🐶 Helping with charity administration
💰 Helping us raise vital funds
📱 Helping with our social media and promoting the dogs
🐕 Opportunities to walk and spend time with the dogs
🏡 Helping find our dogs loving forever homes
🤝 Bringing your own skills, ideas and enthusiasm

You don't need previous committee or charity experience — just a genuine love of dogs and a willingness to help. 🐾

We meet just 6 times a year, but there are also opportunities to get more involved outside of the meetings, whether that's helping at fundraising events, supporting our social media, walking the dogs or simply lending a hand when needed.

If you're interested, we'd love to hear a little about you, what you could bring to SoSad and why you'd like to get involved.
