Week 3 - Sunderland Puppy Class! 🐾✨

Our second puppy class of a Monday evening is now in full swing and it’s been lovely to see how much more comfortable our puppies are becoming in the class environment.

For some puppies, those first few sessions can be a lot to take in. New people, new dogs, new smells, new surroundings and lots of exciting things happening around them can make it difficult to focus and settle.

But we’re now really starting to see the group relax into their surroundings, and as their confidence grows, so does their ability to learn.

They are becoming more comfortable engaging with their owners, making good choices and working around the distractions of class.

We continued building on our settle and eye contact games we started in week one, we looked at impulse control and introducing the heel position, along with introduction to toy play.
It’s fantastic to see the foundations starting to come together, and the puppies are really beginning to show us what they can do when they feel comfortable and confident. 💕

The aim is to build strong, reliable skills ready for the coming weeks as the class gets more difficult, but I have no doubt our puppies and their guardians will do well.

A huge well done to all of our owners. The effort you're putting in between classes really does make a difference, and it’s fantastic to see the progress in the puppies. 👏

We can't wait to see how much more those foundations develop over the coming weeks! 🐶💕

New Sunderland Puppy Graduates 🎓🐾

Our first Monday evening puppy class in Sunderland has officially graduated! For the last 6 weeks I’ve had the absolute pleasure of spending my Monday evenings with these two beautiful girls and their wonderful guardians.

In week 6 we built on everything we learned over the past 6 weeks, including making bed games more difficult by adding in distance, duration and distractions, Toy Switch, recall and loose lead walking, alongside our nose to tail health checks.

This week we are celebrating these lovely girls.

🐾 Wynnie 🐾
Our gorgeous bundle of excitement and energy! 😆 As well as working through our usual games, one of Wynnie’s focuses has been learning that not everyone needs to be greeted with four paws off the floor! We’ve worked on helping her keep those paws down when meeting people and managing all that lovely excitement.

And while Wynnie might be very excited to begin with, once she gets started her focus is incredible. Last night she really showed off how far she has come with her recall, loose lead walking and settling skills. What a little superstar!

🐾 Bonnie 🐾
Bonnie has a habit of proving her guardians wrong! 😂 Whenever there was any doubt about whether she would pick something up, Bonnie seemed to respond with “you just watch me” and then went on to show us exactly what she was capable of.

Her extra focus throughout the course has been learning to disengage from distractions while out on walks, and she has absolutely smashed it. Seeing her guardians recognise her progress and build on it has been fantastic.

A huge amount of credit goes to both sets of puppy guardians. You have thrown yourselves into the training, put in the hard work and, most importantly, supported your puppies through the things they have found challenging.

I’m genuinely going to miss this class. You have all been such a lovely group to teach, and I feel very lucky to have been part of these girls’ first steps into the big wide world.

Keep doing what you’re doing, because these puppies are very lucky to have you. ❤️🐾
Congratulations, girls! 🎓

🌟 Confidence Week – Sunderland 🐾

Tonight's puppy classes in Sunderland were all about growing confidence through fun, positive experiences and letting each puppy explore the world at their own pace.

This week's confidence stations included:

🐾 Agility equipment – building body awareness and confidence in movement (we definitely have a few future agility stars in the making! ⭐)

🌟 Confidence path – exploring different obstacles, textures, and surfaces to encourage curiosity and resilience.

🎾 Ball pit – learning that moving, unfamiliar surfaces can be fun!

🧩 Snuffle mats & puzzle games – building problem-solving skills and encouraging calm, independent thinking.

📦 Cardboard chaos – investigating noisy boxes to make novelty positive rather than worrying.

🐶 Positive muzzle training – introducing the muzzle and making it a valuable life skill.

🐾 Paws up – developing coordination, confidence, and body awareness.

🐕 Scentwork - encouraging puppies to use their incredible noses to search and sniff. Scentwork is a fantastic confidence builder, giving puppies the chance to solve problems.

Every puppy was free to explore at their own pace, celebrating every little success along the way. We also finished the evening chatting about how these confidence games can easily be recreated at home, and shared some tips on keeping our pups safe and comfortable during the warmer weather. ☀️💛

Watching puppies become curious, and even brave, is one of the best parts of Confidence Week! 🐾✨

🐾New Week 1 in Sunderland🐾

A huge welcome to our latest recruits to our 2nd Monday night puppy class! 🐾💛

This week we welcomed another lovely group of puppies and their humans to the family, and we couldn't be happier to be starting this journey with them.

Week one is always one of our favourites. It's where new friendships are made, the foundations are laid, and puppies and their owners begin learning how to work together as a team.

Every puppy brings their own unique personality, and we love getting to know each and every one of them.
It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and having fun while learning together. We know these little pups are going to achieve so much over the coming weeks.

Next week is one of the highlights of the course… Confidence Week! 🎉 We'll be introducing lots of fun activities designed to help our puppies explore the world at their own pace, build resilience, and grow into confident, happy dogs.

A big welcome once again to our newest families. Thank you for choosing us to be part of your puppy's journey. We can't wait to see you all again next week!

🐾 Week 4 in Sunderland 🐾

Week 4 puppy class tonight with our two gorgeous girlies for the first puppy class of a Monday evening! 🐾💕

We're now into the second half of our 6-week puppy course, and it's brilliant to see the foundations we've been building over the last few weeks really starting to come together. The puppies are becoming more confident, the owners are growing in confidence too, and those little training wins are becoming more frequent each week.

Tonight we covered some really practical life skills, including teaching "paw" for handling and grooming, building on our "leave" cue, introducing the all-important "drop" cue, playing our "What's This?" recall game, and finishing with some loose lead walking.

The progress these two have made has been lovely to watch, and it's a real credit to the time and effort their owners are putting in between classes. Consistency really is the secret ingredient!

Next week is one of my favourite sessions of the course... Confidence Week! We'll be introducing lots of fun, novel experiences to help these pups grow into resilient, adaptable dogs. I can't wait to see how they get on! 🐶✨

New Sunderland Puppy Graduates 🎓🐾

Our second Monday evening puppy class has officially graduated! What a brilliant group to finish another 6 week journey with.

In our final session we covered our nose to tail health checks before finishing with some of our favourite games, including bed games, toy Switch, recall and loose lead walking. It was lovely to see everything come together.

One thing I've really loved about this class is the questions the owners have asked. I always say trainers never stop learning, and being challenged with thoughtful questions keeps us learning too. Those conversations are such an important part of puppy class.

🐾 Murphy - is a gorgeous boy who certainly likes to make himself heard! 😆 Over the last 6 weeks he's done brilliantly with all of the games, while we've also supported his family with his frustration barking and helping him learn to settle more calmly at home.

🐾 Max - may be gettint big in size, but he's a real gentle giant. His family's biggest goal was loose lead walking, knowing he'll only get stronger as he grows. Luckily, his love of food has made him a fantastic student and it's been great seeing his progress.

🐾 Joe - might be little, but he has energy to spare! His family wanted help teaching him how to settle and switch off when excitement takes over. Week by week we've started to see him make calmer choices, and it's been lovely watching his confidence grow.

This class has been amazing. We've celebrated successes, but we've also had honest conversations about the harder parts of puppy ownership when things don't quite go to plan. The support, openness and fantastic questions from everyone have made this such a rewarding group to teach.

I really will miss this class, both the puppies and their owners. Thank you for your hard work, your trust and for making every Monday evening such a pleasure. Congratulations on your well earned graduation! 🎓🐾

🐾 Week 3 in Sunderland🐾

Our first Monday night puppy class in Sunderland has now reached Week 3, which means these lovely pups will be soon heading into the second half of the course!

One of the best parts of this stage is seeing everyone's personalities really start to shine. We're getting to know which puppy's unique personality and character.

This week's class built on things we've learned so far, and introduced a couple of new games, introducing "Hand Touch" which is great way of getting our dogs to move away from distractions and improve focus, adding the "Bed" cue to our settling work, developing impulse control further with "Leave", practising another fun recall game called "Duck and Dive", and finishing with some "Drunk Walking" to help lay the foundations for loose lead walking.

Every game has a purpose, but the real magic comes from watching the bond between each puppy and their owner grow stronger with every session.

We're excited to see what the second half of the course brings for this fantastic group of puppies. They're all making brilliant progress, and we can't wait to watch their confidence continue to grow.

💬 Now it's over to you. We would love to hear what unique personality traits your dog has. Let us know in the comments 🐶💛
