I have, for the past 6 months, been trying my hardest (and sadly failing) to clean up our local walks of dog poo.
As a dog walker, I visit pretty much every walking location all over Cowal to take my pups on adventures.
One of my main responsibilities is to pick up after them.
Arriving at probably 90% of these walks, I am greeted with the sight of piles upon piles of poo.
My top 5 worst locations are;
1. Ardanadam
2. Ardyne (beach & forestry)
3. Clachaig (both sides of the road just past the village)
4. Glen Massan
5. Glenkin
Each week, at each location I visit, I clean up as much as I physically can but when I return again only a few days to a week later, it’s back to the start & I really am fighting a loosing battle at this point - although it will not stop me trying!!
Every single bag you see in my pictures contains at least 2, sometimes 3 separate piles of 💩.
I have done some sums and the results are;
Over 400 bags have been used since July
With each containing 2 or 3, I have picked up well over 800 p**ps 😱😱😱
I completely understand that some people are unable to; if you have a bad back, are blind, are elderly etc. but this number should be absolutely minuscule & not equate to the amount that I clean up day to day.
I want to say that this isn’t an attack but simply an appeal to the dog owners of Dunoon to
💩 PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG 💩
Or if you are able to, pick up any p**p you see that someone else has left behind.
Furthermore, if you really don’t want to pick it up - train & teach your dog to go far off path to do their business.
We are so incredibly lucky to have such an abundance of stunning forestry walks all around us, which we should be proud of keeping clean & pristine for ourselves & anyone visiting our beautiful town.
So, if you ever arrive at a walk & see a line of green poo bags trailing along the path - that’s me!! Just trying my best to keep our home as beautiful as it can be.
