Puppy training isn't just for when you're having problems. It's about helping your dog develop the skills they need for everyday life, preventing issues before they start and building a great relationship from the beginning.

Our Life Skills courses focus on practical, real-life training using kind, reward-based methods. We keep our classes small so every dog and owner gets plenty of individual support.

🐶 Life Skills Puppy (10–20 weeks)
📍 Norton – Saturday 20 June, 9:30am

🐕 Life Skills Junior (20 weeks+)
📍 Unstone – Tuesday 16 June, 7pm

I never imagined I would be writing this post.

This morning, I lost my beautiful boy Floyd suddenly and totally unexpectedly.

He was my best friend, my shadow, my sidekick and my whole world. He was such a huge part of my life. Right now I am absolutely heartbroken and struggling to process my life without him. 💙

I’ll be stepping back from work for a short while and replies to messages, emails and enquiries will be delayed. I’m hoping to return on 8th June.

Please don’t think I’m ignoring anyone if I don’t reply to messages right now, I'm staying away from Social Media. I really do appreciate all of the love and kindness people are showing me, but at the moment I need some time to grieve and get my head around losing him.

Classes and workshops will still continue to book through the website as normal, and urgent 1-to-1 enquiries can be directed through my email responder to my colleagues.

Thank you to everyone who has already shown kindness, patience and understanding, and apologies to anyone whose lessons I have had to postpone.

Floyd was loved by so many people, and I know a lot of you will understand just how completely devastating this loss feels.

Hug your dogs a little tighter for me tonight. 🐾💔

🎓🐾 Our May Graduate Life Skills dogs completed their final sessions last week, and what a brilliant way to finish the course!

From advanced teamwork and focus exercises through to themed challenges like Graduate Dog Intelligence Agency and The Great British Picnic Disaster, these teams have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks.

It’s been lovely watching the dogs grow in confidence, maturity and independence, while their humans have continued developing their handling skills, timing and understanding too.

The final sessions really showed just how far everyone has come, with dogs and handlers working together through fun, real-life style training challenges. 💙

Thank you all for your hard work, consistency and dedication throughout the course. We’re so proud of every single team.

Remember to keep building on that teamwork, and for anyone wanting to continue their training journey with us, our Dog Parkour course starts on 1st June on our training fields in Dronfield. 🐶✨

🎓🐾 A big well done to our May Intermediate dogs who completed their course last week!

These dogs have been taking their training to the next level, working hard on focus, reliability and real-life skills around increasing distractions and more advanced exercises.

Over the course, teams have been developing skills such as recall, lead walking, stays, calmness around other dogs, handling, engagement and working with more independence and confidence.

It’s been brilliant to watch the progress from both dogs and owners as their teamwork has continued to grow. 💙

Thank you all for your hard work, consistency and commitment throughout the course. We’re so proud of everything you’ve achieved and look forward to seeing many of you continue your training journey with us. 🐶✨

🎓🐾 A huge well done to all of our May Life Skills Junior dogs who completed their course last week!

Adolescence can be a tricky stage, so it’s been lovely watching these youngsters grow in confidence, focus and self-control over the past few weeks.

Throughout the course, they’ve been building real-life skills including loose lead walking, recall, calmness around distractions, handling skills and learning how to make good choices in distracting environments.

A big thank you to all of the handlers too. Training through the teenage months takes patience, consistency and understanding, and you’ve all put in so much hard work to support your dogs. 💙

We’re really proud of how far everyone has come and can’t wait to see what they achieve next. 🐶✨

🎓🐾 Congratulations to all our May puppies who graduated from their Life Skills Puppy courses last week!

These little superstars have worked so hard on their foundations, building confidence, focus, calmness and real-life skills along the way. From learning their names and settling calmly, to loose lead walking, recall foundations and polite greetings, they’ve all made fantastic progress.

We’re so proud of every puppy and their humans for the time, patience and teamwork they’ve put in over the last few weeks. 💙

That doesn’t mean it’s what your dog experiences in direct sun, on pavements, artificial grass, or inside a car.

Your dog won’t suffer from missing a walk for a day.

Heatstroke can be fatal!

Shade, enrichment, sniffing games, cold treats, paddling pools, and early morning or late evening walks are all great alternatives 💙

We’re very lucky to have Dog Parkour UK qualified instructor Susy running Foundation Level 1 classes at the People and Dogs training fields in Dronfield. 💚

Many of you will already know Susy from teaching with People and Dogs over the years. She also owns Dogs Club Sheffield and, for the first time in 6 years, has a small number of dog walking spaces available too. 🐕🌿

If Mondays don’t work for you, Susy is also offering alternative class dates independently through Dogs Club Sheffield. 🐾

Dog Parkour classes are all about helping dogs build confidence, coordination, body awareness and focus through fun obstacle-based activities taught using kind, reward-based methods. 🌿

He loves the walk there.
He loves a quiet beer garden, especially if there’s a canal, ducks and a bit of space to watch the world go by. 🦆🌿

But busy pubs indoors?
No thank you.

Too noisy, too busy, too many people moving around and nowhere sensible to settle.

Meanwhile other dogs are asleep under tables without a care in the world. 😂

So these days we stick to pub gardens and outdoor tables and he's happier for it.

Sometimes it’s just about working with the dog you’ve actually got rather than the one you imagined taking everywhere with you. 🐾🤷

Welcoming a rescue dog into your home can be such a rewarding experience, but it can also feel overwhelming at times while everyone adjusts to a completely new life and routine. 💚

Some dogs settle quickly, while others need a little more time, support, and understanding, especially around being left alone.

Our self-paced online Separation Anxiety Solutions course was created to help owners better understand separation-related behaviours and work through them using kind, ethical, evidence-based methods and realistic expectations.

A lot of owners feel pressure to “get the dog used to it” quickly, but for many dogs, rushing absences or expecting too much too soon can actually make things harder.
