Halloween Week is coming to Muttley’s, and we’ve got five days of spooky dress-up, themed games, hunts, prizes and plenty of treats planned for the pack! 🐶🧡

And there’s even more to play for this year — every day there’ll be two prizes up for grabs! One for Best Dressed and one for the winner of the day’s hunt, with each winner taking home a little Halloween goody bag filled with toys and treats. 🎁🐾

👻 Monday – Ghosts & Graveyards
Ghosts, ghouls, skeletons and all things spooky! The dogs will be taking on our Haunted Graveyard Hunt, sniffing their way around the graveyard to track down the hidden goodies. 🦴

Cowboys, sheriffs, bandits and anything Wild West! Our little outlaws will be heading into the fields for a Gold Rush Hunt to see who can sniff out the treasure. ⭐

🐾💚 Another busy day at Muttley’s! 💚🐾

Today we practised our recall skills using the long lines, giving the dogs plenty of freedom to explore while working on coming back when called and building those all-important recall skills. 🐶✨

There was also loads of play in between, with plenty of running, chasing, wrestling and zoomies across the fields. The dogs had a great time mixing with their friends, burning off some energy and making the most of a very muddy day!

Safe to say we had quite a few mucky pups by home time, so our grooming room was put to good use with plenty of scrubbing, drying and getting everyone clean again before heading home. 🛁😂

We also welcomed Milo and Nellie to the pack today, and they settled in so well. They got stuck straight into the enrichment, made some new friends and spent the day playing away like they’d been coming to Muttley’s forever. 💚🐾

A lovely day of learning, playing, new friendships and very muddy paws!

🐾💚 A little look at life at Muttley’s this week! 💚🐾

It’s been another busy one with the pack, full of running, playing, enrichment, cuddles and plenty of time spent with friends. From the big zoomies to the quieter moments, there’s never a dull day at Muttley’s. 🐶✨

We’ve had so many lovely moments this week that it was hard to choose, but here are a few of our favourite snaps from the last few days. We’ve got action shots, silly faces, happy pups, cuddle breaks and everything in between.

We love getting to capture all the little moments that make daycare so special and seeing how much fun the dogs have together each week. Another lovely week with the Muttley’s pack, and we’re already looking forward to more next week. 💚🐾

Update: A vet has confirmed Kennel cough has been around Ferndown area since late August.
And Ive heard of a case in Branksome Rec area today.

KENNEL COUGH NOTICE

Hi everyone. We want to let you know that kennel cough is circulating in the local area

I’ve just been to see one training client and their dog presented with a little cough and they told be she had also been vomiting very frothy slimy sick they had no idea it was KC. Also when I was training at Canford Sang last week I saw two tell tale signs of frothy sick on the ground, which if your dog sniffs it, it will become infected. So it is clearly doing the rounds again 😡

Kennel cough is common and usually mild, but it spreads easily between dogs. Usually spread because people get the jab and then take their dogs out in the days after, when they are actually infectious because it is a live virus theyre infected with and they can shed it anywhere up to two weeks, sometimes longer, so they then unknowingly spread it everywhere if they’re meeting other dogs when they’re out.

The main sign is a persistent dry, hacking cough, sometimes with retching, and producing frothy slimy sick (different from the sick they do when they eat grass) sneezing or a runny nose, off their food and lethargy; symptoms are usually worse at night,
it can take a few days after picking it up, for signs to show.

They may have a really bad 24 hours, if severe symptoms last longer than that a trip to the vet maybe necessary.

To help keep everyone's dogs stay safe, if your dog has a cough or seems under the weather, please keep them at home and message us before their next visit. If your dog has been coughing, please speak to your vet before they return.

The kennel cough jab is not mandatory for the day care it is up to you whether you give it to your dog ; the kennel cough jab does not protect your dog from Kennel cough it will make just make the symptoms milder if they do pick it up, just as would happen if they caught it naturally after the.first bout.

If you do get the jab please keep your dog off from day care for 7-10 days.
For most dogs kennel cough is inevitable and once they’ve had it any further bouts should be mild.

However in Daycare it is a nightmare and people can be very quick to blame us, but we can only do so much if a dogs comes in with it and we are not told.

So to help us, help you and everyone else please follow this advice.

Also so as to not put other dogs at risk in your area.

If your dog has kennel cough or just had the jab do not take them out where there are lots of dogs, do not let them greet other dogs they see and if they cough up froth pick it up and sanitise the area with a spray, because remember although it is mainly harmless for young healthy dogs, it can kill infirm dogs.

We're keeping a close eye on all the dogs in our care and following our usual hygiene routines, and if we notice anything with your dog we'll contact you straight away.

🐾💚 Obstacle course fun at Muttley’s! 💚🐾

Today’s enrichment had the dogs putting both their brains and bodies to work as they made their way around our obstacle course. There was lots of jumping up and over, heading through the tunnel, climbing across the wooden obstacles and following instructions from the team along the way. 🐶✨

It’s a great way to build confidence, coordination and focus while encouraging the dogs to listen and work with us — all while having plenty of fun at the same time!

Safe to say the Muttley’s pack absolutely smashed it. 💚🐾

Join us this Friday 11th September as we celebrate two amazing years of Muttley’s! 💚

There’ll be doggy birthday cake, party games and activities, plus our very own doggy disco with lots of music, dancing and plenty of fun on the dance floor!
