Let's talk about motion / car sickness
LZH seem to be exceptionally susceptible to this, regardless of early exposure
All Mabes pups had the same experiences to motion. And yet, some still have very severe motionsickness
They were carried, taken on car rides, different surfaces, swings etc but still some were susceptible to motion sickness
✅ The vestibular system is located in the inner ear and plays a major role in balance, spatial orientation, and processing movement.
✅ Early life experiences are important for puppy development. Positive exposure to a variety of sights, sounds, surfaces, environments, and gentle movement can help puppies become more confident and resilient.
✅ Gradual exposure to different types of motion (car rides, being carried, unstable surfaces, swings, etc.) may help some puppies become more comfortable with those experiences later in life.
⚠️ Motion sickness, confidence around movement, genetics, temperament, health, breed tendencies, and individual sensitivity can all play a role.
The real value isn't necessarily "training the vestibular system" as much as:
•Building confidence
•Reducing novelty around movement
•Encouraging body awareness
•Developing coordination
•Creating positive experiences with things they'll encounter in everyday life
At Cinnabar-Reds, our puppies are introduced to a variety of age-appropriate experiences, including different textures, obstacles, and gentle movement activities. The goal isn't to "toughen them up", but to help them become adaptable, confident dogs that are better prepared for everyday life.
Every puppy is an individual, and genetics and temperament play a role too, but thoughtful early experiences can make a big difference in how puppies approach new situations as they grow.
