Introducing Puppy to grooming
Why are puppy grooms so important? 🐶✂️
Bringing your puppy to the groomer from a young age can help them learn that grooming is a normal, positive part of life. ❤️
At Shampooches of Dereham, we start puppy grooms from 12 weeks old, or once your puppy has had all of their vaccinations.
🐾 What happens during a puppy groom?
A puppy’s first few visits are all about building confidence and trust. We gently introduce them to the different sights, sounds and sensations they will experience during future grooming appointments.
This can include:
*Getting used to having a bath
*Introducing them to the dryer
*Getting comfortable with clippers and scissors
*Gentle brushing and combing
*Handling their paws and feet
*Getting them used to their ears being checked
*Introducing nail trimming
*Lots of patience, praise and positive experiences
TOP TIP FROM SHAMPOOCHES: 🐾
Don’t wait until your puppy’s coat is long and difficult to manage before their first groom.
Starting early allows your puppy to gradually become comfortable with grooming, making future visits much easier and less stressful.
Every puppy is different, so we work at their pace and never expect them to cope with everything straight away.
Our aim is to help create a puppy who grows into a confident, happy and relaxed grooming customer! 🥰🐶
