✈️ Bernie & Co is officially on holiday! ☀️🐾

As if we weren’t all already done with the heat… I’m off to find some more! 🤣☀️

The CEO (Bernie) has finally approved some annual leave, so we’ll be taking a little break until 8th July.

While I’m away, Bernie will be moving into Grandma’s habitat_hounds where he’ll no doubt spend the week bossing her around, demanding snacks and negotiating for second breakfasts… so I’m not convinced he’ll actually want to come home! 🤣🐶

I’ll reply to any messages as soon as I’m back.

Happy 9th Birthday to our beautiful Indy (Indiana) 🎂🐾❤️

One of the sweetest, gentlest souls you could ever meet and a girl who is loved by everyone who knows her 🥰

Kind, patient, caring and always happy to make a friend, Indy is simply a joy to be around.

She is also one of the bravest girls I know, taking everything life throws at her in her stride and always greeting the world with a wagging tail and a smile.

We are so lucky to have you as part of the Bernie & Co family ❤️

🐾✨ Our beautiful Lily ✨🐾

It is with a very heavy heart that we say goodbye to our sweet Lily.

From the moment I met her at her meet & greet, she completely stole my heart. For such a little Westie, she had the biggest personality. A true princess who always knew exactly what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to let everyone know! ❤️

Whether she was trying her luck barking at lorries ten times her size, keeping a watchful eye on her little brother Archie, or enjoying one of our “golden oldie” parties with her boyfriend Zac, Lily brought so much joy, laughter and character to every walk.

It has been an absolute honour to know her, care for her and be a small part of her story. Dogs leave paw prints on our hearts, and Lily’s will be there forever.

Run free, beautiful girl. We will miss you more than words can say. ❤️🐾

Sending all our love to her wonderful family and to Archie as they navigate life without their precious girl.

We love you, Lily. Always. ❤️

Heatwaves can be uncomfortable — and sometimes dangerous — for our dogs ☀️🐾

During hotter weather, keeping dogs cool, hydrated and well rested is so important. Remember that mental enrichment can be just as beneficial as physical exercise on very warm days 🌞

At Bernie & Co, we always adapt our routines depending on the weather and each individual dog’s needs. Breed, age, health, coat type and fitness levels all play a part in how well dogs cope in the heat.

Sometimes the best thing we can do for them is slow things down a little:
💦 paddling pools
🧊 frozen treats
🌙 earlier walks
🌀 cool airflow
🧠 enrichment games
🥤 plenty of fresh water
🌳 shade & rest

Owning a reactive dog can feel… a lot sometimes.

The stares, the comments, the constant feeling like you need to explain or apologise for your dog’s behaviour.

But the truth is — most people don’t see what’s really going on.

They don’t see how hard your dog is trying.
They don’t see the training, the patience, the tiny wins that feel huge to you.
And they definitely don’t see how much you are carrying every time you step outside.

If you’ve ever felt judged, overwhelmed, or like you’re doing it all wrong… you’re not alone in that!!!

I see you! I get it! And I know how much you care!

Reactive dogs aren’t “bad” or “untrained” dogs — they just need understanding, guidance, and someone willing to advocate for them.

And if you’re that person for your dog?
You’re already doing something really, really right 💛

You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. 🫶🏻
