🐾 Let them stop and sniff! 👃💚

Have you ever wondered why your dog seems to spend half their walk with their nose on the ground?

For dogs, sniffing isn’t just about finding interesting smells. It’s one of the ways they explore and understand the world around them.

That’s why I don’t believe every walk needs to be about distance or keeping your dog constantly moving.

Sometimes, the best part of a walk is simply allowing them time to stop, sniff, investigate and take everything in.

A slower, sniff-filled walk can be just as valuable as a long, energetic one — especially for dogs who are nervous, easily overwhelmed or simply prefer to take their time.

Every dog is different, and I believe their walks should reflect that. 🐶🌿

So next time your dog stops to investigate that very important patch of grass… give them a moment. They might just be reading the morning news! 😄🐾

🌿🐾 One of my favourite places for a dog walk – Elvaston Castle Country Park 💚

Living within walking distance of Elvaston Park is one of the things I love about being a dog walker. It gives me the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful place regularly and share it with the dogs I care for.

There’s something for every kind of dog here – plenty of interesting smells to investigate, different paths and areas to explore, and lots of opportunities for a little adventure. 🌳🐶

But for me, a good walk isn’t about how far we go or how quickly we get there. It’s about giving each dog the kind of experience they enjoy.

Some dogs want to explore every corner, some love a good game of fetch, while others are happiest taking their time, sniffing and taking in everything around them.

That’s why I believe walks should be adapted to the individual dog – their personality, energy levels, confidence and what makes them happy.

Sometimes the best walk is a big adventure. Sometimes it’s simply a peaceful wander with plenty of time to stop and sniff. 🐾

Elvaston Park gives us the freedom to do a little bit of both. 💚

🐾 Another step forward for Steady Steps Canine Services! 💚

I’m very happy to share that I’ve now completed my Canine First Aid course! 🩹🐶

Keeping dogs safe is one of my biggest priorities, and I believe that being prepared for an emergency is an important part of providing responsible care.

The course was a fantastic learning experience and gave me valuable practical knowledge that I can carry forward into my work with dogs.

A big thank you to Dog First Aid Derbyshire for such an informative and practical course. I really appreciate the time, knowledge and experience you shared with us. 💚

I’m always looking for ways to learn, improve my skills and provide the best possible care for the dogs I look after.
