With yet more interest in the NetBox recently and having shared the background story of how they came about, it seems like a good time to share more information about the NetBoxes themselves 😊
The boxes are highly durable storage / shipping pallet boxes made of human food grade plastic. They have great sustainability credentials (more info. available on request) are UV stable and don't become brittle in either high or sub-zero temperatures (there are records of 40 year old boxes still in use having been through Mediterranean summers and then winters in industrial fridges).
The integral 'net frame', catches, latches and handles are made of high quality, durable galvanised or stainless steel. They are fitted in the NetBoxes to fine tolerances to ensure smooth, snag-free and (most importantly) easy operation.
The nets are made from high strength polypropylene, as is now common for premium hay nets, as it absorbs very little water and so maintains its strength in adverse conditions. The knotless configuration is kinder to horses' mouths and teeth.
Safety is of the utmost importance and you won't find any sharp or rough edges on a NetBox for your horses to catch themselves on.
