Dark cabinetry, brass hardware and a pale worktop are doing exactly what they should here, creating contrast without making the kitchen feel heavy.

The light stone surface keeps the room bright, clean and practical, while the crisp edging around the island, hob run and sink area gives the whole space a finished, considered look. The right slab is only step one.

Selection matters, but so does what happens next: measuring to the room, planning where the veining falls, cutting with precision and finishing every edge by hand. Skip any of those steps and even a beautiful stone can look ordinary once it's fitted.

A worktop's quality lives in that gap between raw material and finished result, in the vein placement, the joins that disappear rather than announce themselves, and a fit that's exact rather than close enough.

A kitchen isn't finished until the worktop goes in.

The piece arrives by van and gets checked against the room. Then it's carried in and set down carefully. Every edge is checked with a spirit level before anything is fixed in place.

Each joint is glued, then clamped tight until the seam disappears and the surface reads as one piece.

By the end of the day, a bare kitchen has a finished island.

Ceppo Beige is built from fragments rather than veining, pale stone, warm taupe and soft grey pieces set into one consistent base tone.

Dark ribbed wood cabinetry and brass hardware ground the kitchen, with an oversized brass dome pendant overhead and open shelving either side of the hob that keeps the material properly on show. The island wears the same stone as a waterfall, floor to countertop in one uninterrupted piece.

Matching that scatter convincingly across a mitred join takes real slab selection, choosing a run where the fragments sit at a similar scale on both faces so the corner doesn't read as two different surfaces meeting.
