Dog owners please read ⚠️⚠️
Around two weeks ago our precious girl May had hurt herself while playing with a stick.
We were on a walk and she was running, she had tripped and caused it to go into the soft tissue under her tongue.
I had taken it out and removed any splinters I could see but there was a whole around an inch thick under her tongue.
I had put her in the car and immediately called the vets, on the way to the appointment she was gagging and howling in pain.
The vets had a look (video included ) and there it was. The vets had told me it was around 3 inches deep, any deeper and it could’ve come out the other side and into her throat.
I spoke with the vet and this is a very common issue. Dogs are there everyday with injury’s even worse than Mays, some not even reversible.
May struggled eating and drinking for almost a week and had to take lots of medication to prevent infection and help keep the pain to a minimum.
She can eat happily now and has only a few days left of her medication but the hole is still healing so she’s not out the clear yet.
Is it really worth 5 minutes of fun playing with a stick for you to potentially loose your dog all together?
