🎉🎂 HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY TO OUR WONDERFUL GASTON! 🎂🎉

Seven years of being the kindest, sweetest boy with the biggest heart ❤️🐾

Gaston is a true rule follower, absolutely LOVES a ball and is happiest when he’s at the beach 🌊
He’ll do ANYTHING for a snack (and we mean anything! 😂), and when it’s bedtime, he absolutely insists on having a pillow to rest his head on... because apparently, being a good boy is exhausting! 💤

He’s also always ready for his close-up, point a camera his way and he’s straight in there! 📸🥰

And one of the things that makes us so incredibly proud of him… Gaston has donated blood to help save a life 🩸❤️ What an amazing boy he is!

Happy 7th birthday, beautiful Gaston! 🥳🎈

We hope your day is filled with everything you love most: balls, beach adventures, cuddles, a comfy pillow, plenty of photos… and, of course, ALL THE SNACKS! 🐾❤️🎂

Meet the gorgeous Lexie 💗

Lexie is a newly diagnosed diabetic and receives regular visits from us for blood glucose spot checks, urinalysis and at-home glucose curves. These visits allow us to gather as much information as possible for her veterinary team, helping them to understand her condition and get her diabetes well controlled as quickly as possible.

Lexie recently underwent cataract surgery, and during one of our routine visits, we noticed that something just wasn’t quite right. During a thorough nose-to-tail check, we noticed inflammation within her eyes and that she had partially lost her vision overnight, a potential post-operative complication that needed urgent attention.

We immediately arranged transport to Optivet in Havant, where she could be assessed by the ophthalmology specialists as soon as possible.

Lexie was an absolute superstar for the journey and made a great little boat companion! 🥹⛴️
Although it was a very late night for her and she didn’t make it home until midnight, it was absolutely worth the journey.

Her veterinary team couldn’t thank us enough for recognising the change and getting her seen so promptly. Had the problem gone unnoticed, there was a real risk that she could have lost one of her eyes.

This is exactly why thorough checks are important. It’s not always about the task we’ve been booked to do, it’s about looking at the whole patient, recognising when something has changed and knowing when they need further veterinary attention 💗🐾

We’re so pleased we could be there for Lexie when she needed us most... and what a very good girl she was! 🥰

Corkey’s blood pressure check at home 🐱🩺

Corkey was referred for blood pressure monitoring, but veterinary visits are extremely stressful for him. He can become very difficult to handle in practice, meaning procedures such as blood sampling (particularly obtaining an accurate blood pressure reading) can be very challenging.

As Corkey is diabetic and regular monitoring is important, we carefully planned his visit with his owner around his normal routine and his usual sleepy time of day. We discussed with his owner how best to approach the blood pressure check, allowing us to work at Corkey’s pace and minimise stress.

We successfully obtained readings using both Doppler and oscillometric blood pressure methods, and the results were reassuringly consistent. Even better, Corkey remained remarkably relaxed throughout! ❤️

This is a great example of why considering the individual cat, their behaviour and their environment is so important in veterinary care. A cat who is extremely stressed and difficult to handle in practice may behave completely differently in their own home.

By choosing the right snoozy time of day, environment and approach, we were able to get the monitoring he needed without putting him through the additional stress of a practice visit.

A very good boy indeed and a successful result! 🐾

🎉 IW County Vet Nurse is ONE YEAR OLD today! 🎉

Around 18 months ago IW County Vet Nurse was just an idea.. one that I just couldn't shake. My years in practice have immersed me into so many situations with very stressed owners and pets for services and small procedures that left me constantly asking...

"Why doesn't someone offer this from home?"

Or

"That could have easily been done as a home visit and would have been a much nicer experience for the pet".

From home, there is no stress, no fuss 🏠

More accurate readings, closer medication dosing, better treatment outcomes 🐾

So, I bought myself a Pukka Pad and started shaping exactly what this business could look like, and what services you would value most, +/- lots of red tape!! But... I haven't looked back since!

Today, we are growing faster than I ever imagined, and I am so incredibly proud 🤍🥹

🚐🌱 Sprout has travelled over 8000 zero emissions miles, including 6 return mainland pet transport trips.

🏆 We're a UK Small Business Awards finalist for Best Pet Business, making the final 50 out of over 10,000 pet businesses! 🤯

👩‍⚕️👩‍⚕️👩‍⚕️I'm no longer on this journey alone. My brilliant colleague, Hannah, is now by my side, finding solutions to all our customers' needs. And the exciting news? We have a third Registered Veterinary Nurse joining our team very soon! All will be revealed shortly... 🤫

To every single client, patient, and supporter who has been a part of this incredible first year and trusted us with their furry family members... THANK YOU. We couldn’t have done this without you. Here’s to many more years of bringing expert care straight to your doorstep on our beautiful island! 🐾❤️

This is the photo of Sprout after a wellness check unexpectedly needed escalating to a prompt trip to the vets.

During the check, I picked up some findings that needed further investigation, so the patient was swiftly referred for an ECG to confirm what I had found. Unfortunately, the findings were confirmed and heart disease was diagnosed.

The good news is that it has been caught early, meaning medication can now be started to reduce the pressure on the heart and help keep them comfortable.

This is exactly why regular wellness checks are so important. Picking up subtle changes early and getting them investigated promptly can make such a difference, giving conditions the best chance of being managed effectively and helping our patients enjoy a happy, comfortable life for as long as possible ❤️🐾
