Bandit - a personal dog.
Cane corso x that came to us with a host of unexpected issues.

I’m always investing my time into expanding my education so I can be a better trainer For the dogs. A recent development has been delving into the world of play and emotion and I firmly believe these techniques are at the top of the game at the moment. I’m loving how dotty (in the video) has taken to this. A few months ago she wouldn’t entertain a ball and especially on walks and she really wasn’t bothered about playing (she’s food motivated like me!🤣).
The amount of confidence this small change has given her and I will over the next few months be implementing these techniques with behavioural challenges too 🤩

Dotty is fully trustable off leash, even around livestock.

It’s so important, especially when you have a working breed, for them to be able to enjoy off lead time for fulfilment and to just enjoy being a dog.

I’m a trainer and my dog DOES

- Pull on the lead
- Sleep in the bed
- Get onto furniture without being invited
- Disappear into the distance when we’re out in the woods
- Approach dogs and people at her own will

My dog does NOT

- Focus on me when we’re lead walking
- Focus on me when I ask for a heel
- Stick behind me when she’s off lead
- Take part in obedience drills every time we go anywhere

My dog

- Trusts me
- Does anything I ask of her, no matter what’s going on
- Is neutral to all environments
- Doesn’t approach stimulus without checking in
- Has a great relationship with me and engages with me naturally

I think, personally that in recent years we’ve really lost sight of what it is to have a dog, focusing more on the accuracy and speed of a sit and consequences and punishments rather than the fundamental emotions around the relationship.
The way you are with your dog and the way your dog feels around you WILL influence decisions and behaviour. Think about it!
