It’s a warm one! ☀️

Please remember to take extra care of your dogs in this heat.

🐾 Walk them early in the morning or later in the evening.
💧 Make sure they’ve always got plenty of fresh water.
🌳 Stick to shady areas where you can.
🔥 And always check the pavement before heading out – if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.

At Woodys Walkies, your dog’s safety always comes first. On really hot days we’ll shorten walks, find plenty of shade, take lots of water, or swap a walk for some garden play and enrichment if that’s the better option.

One very happy dog making the most of the sea this morning! We definitely feel lucky to have Mersea on our doorstep on days like these. Just to reassure everyone, this was one of our early morning walks before it got too hot. 🥵 In this weather we always walk earlier, keep the dogs cool and put their safety first. ❤️ Safe, happy dogs and lots of waggy (or soggy!) tails 🐾

We popped in to see the very handsome Reggie and he was an absolute delight as always 🖤 Such a lovely boy with the sweetest nature and a waggy tail that says it all! With the weather being super hot this week 🔥, we still have availability for drop in visits — perfect for keeping your pets happy, comfortable, cool and cared for while you’re out!

🐾 Learning to do nothing 🐾

It might not sound like much, but it’s actually a really important skill!

Learning to settle helps dogs:
• Feel calmer and more relaxed
• Reduce overexcitement and reactivity
• Build confidence in busy environments
• Recover properly between walks and activities

At Woodys Walkies, we work on this all the time - rewarding calm moments, giving dogs time to decompress, and showing them that nothing happening is actually a good thing.

Because a well-balanced dog isn’t just active… they also know how to rest 🐶💤

The weather has finally cooled down, so our dog walks are back on this week! 🐶💚

This lovely pup had a drop in visit today instead of a walk with the temperature being so high ☀️

Making sure she stayed cool and comfortable with plenty of fresh water, some fuss and chilling indoors in front of the fan. 💕 Keeping our dogs safe in this heat is so important!
