🐾🌟Meet Bella!

This October, we’re celebrating a very special girl, Bella, who has officially been accepted as a Therapy Dog at Great Ormond Street Hospital! ❤

Each week, Bella will be helping to bring smiles, comfort and a little bit of home to children, families and hospital staff. She’ll even be supporting physiotherapy and specialist therapy sessions, helping children through exercises, reducing anxiety and providing plenty of cuddles along the way. 🥰

With her gentle nature and instinct for knowing when someone needs a cuddle, we think Bella is going to be absolutely brilliant at her new role.

And just look at her proudly showing off her new GOSH Therapy Dog bandana! 🐶💙

Congratulations, Bella! We’re so proud to have you as our October Pet of the Month! 🏆🐾

We have had a very positive start to the week, waking up to this lovely review for our care of Millie, and receiving flowers from another customer who "felt 100% reassured" by our care of her pets whilst she was away on holiday 🙂

🐕 ? WOULD YOU LIKE TO LOOK AFTER DOGS PART-TIME ? 🐕

✅ We Love Pets Braintree and Coggeshall is seeking experienced, dog-loving individuals, couples and families who would like to open their homes to board dogs whilst their owners are on holiday. We offer welfare-focused, professional pet-care and we hold an arrangers licence with Braintree District Council (AAL/146).

🦴 The dogs bring with them everything they need for their stay including their food, beds, toys, walking equipment and their favourite blankets. You provide the walks, cuddles and enrichment.

🐕 We provide free certified training and insurance cover, and we sort out all the admin. We meet all dogs and their owners before agreeing to board them, and they will come to meet you before their staycation to check that everyone is happy with their care. For stays of more that two nights, a trial night is arranged to check that both you and your canine companion are comfortable and compatible.

🏡 You need to have a private, enclosed garden and you must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle in case of emergency. 🚗 Before we join you up to the team, I will come out to meet you and carry out a risk assessment of your home to check that it meets licensing standards. We will chat about your pet-care experience, and we will discuss the benefits - and the challenges - of caring for other people's pets. We will also talk about the training programme, induction and level of supervision and support that We Love Pets offers to its home-from-home boarders.

💶🪙🪙 This is not a paid job, but a voluntary role for which we will cover your out of pocket expenses. You have to be home the majority of the time, due to boarding legislation, so this is an ideal opportunity for those who have owned or worked with dogs before, who are retired or who work from home.

🤔 If you think this might suit you or someone you know, please get in touch providing some background information about your experience with dogs, and explaining how this would fit with your lifestyle.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Dudley and I enjoyed a visit to Marks Hall at the weekend. It is free entry to RHS members this month because Marks Hall is an RHS partner garden.

🌳We mooched around the autumn leaves and Dudley enjoyed plenty of sniffs! We counted rabbit, deer, squirrel, badger, fox and other dogs.

Needless to say, we both had a nap when we got back home 🏡

Get in touch if your pet would enjoy professional care with We Love Pets.

Meet Frodo, the fabulous 10-year-old Sphynx cat! 🐈

Sphynx cats were developed as a breed in the 1960s and are known for their extroverted personalities, intelligence, and strong bond with their humans. Frodo certainly ticks every one of those boxes!

Frodo is at the heart of family life and has a personality that is hard to ignore. His interests include controlling his humans into providing treats, bird watching, sleeping on his human's bed and knocking items off shelves whilst maintaining direct eye contact. 👀🤭

Being a Sphynx, Frodo needs a little extra care including weekly baths to care for his delicate skin and sporting jumpers in the colder months.

Frodo also has a mischievous side and his latest escapade included peeing on his human's sandals when he realised they were packing to go on holiday! 😼

He may be mischievous but his cheeky character, intelligence and affectionate nature are exactly what make him so special. Tasha from We Love Pets Bury St Edmunds absolutely adores Frodo and feels honoured to care for him. ❤️

Congratulations Frodo!

Meet Callie and Gherkin - can you guess which is which?

🏠There was no need to uproot the pets or put them into unfamiliar surroundings whilst their owners were away recently – we cared for them in the comfort of their own home providing play, feeding, fresh water and a daily health check as well as company and conversation!

Let's not forget that we also had to feed the locusts - and feed them to the gecko - without anyone jumping out of the tank 😀

At We Love Pets Coggeshall, we’re happy to care for all sorts of pets – even the ones whose dinner tries to escape! 🐾❤️

🍂As the leaves turn and the walks get crisper, autumn brings a few hazards worth keeping an eye out for.

Conkers and acorns. Some dogs treat conkers like a free tennis ball, but both conkers and acorns can cause vomiting and drooling if eaten, and acorns in large quantities can cause more serious trouble. Worth admiring from a distance.

🍄 Wild mushrooms. Autumn is peak season for fungi, and it's genuinely hard to tell a harmless one from a toxic one at a glance. If your dog eats a mushroom you can't identify, treat it as an emergency rather than a wait-and-see.

⚠️ Fallen leaves and mould. That satisfying pile of crunchy leaves can hide damp, mouldy patches underneath that produce toxins if eaten, sometimes causing tremors or vomiting. Enjoy the crunch, but steer pets away from soggy piles.

‼️Rodenticides. Rat and mouse poison becomes more common as the weather turns, and it can be surprisingly tempting to dogs and cats (even second-hand, from a poisoned rodent). If you suspect exposure, don't wait for symptoms - get in touch with your vet straight away!

🫗Antifreeze. Sweet-tasting but highly toxic, and spills become more common as people top up their cars for winter. Wipe up any spills fast and keep containers well out of your pets’ reach.

🔦Shorter days. With darker evenings, pets become harder for drivers to spot. A reflective collar, lead, or coat is a simple way to stay visible on those late-afternoon walks.

As always, if an animal has eaten something they shouldn’t or you're just not sure, give the vets a call - they'd always rather have a chat than have you worrying at home.

Meet Lilly, Caramel & RooRoo! 💚🐹

The We Love Pets Norwich team have the pleasure of looking after these three adorable guinea pigs every July when their owner goes away for a few days and they’re always a delight to care for!

Their sweet little squeaks are the perfect welcome when the team arrives (especially when they know mealtime is on the way! 🥬). From refreshing their bedding and water to keeping their enclosure clean and making sure they’re happy and comfortable, the team love giving them the care and attention they deserve.

Small pets may be little, but Lilly, Caramel & RooRoo certainly have big personalities! 🐾✨

A big thank you to the We Love Pets Norwich team for sharing these lovely moments with us. 💚

Happy International Cat Day! 🐾

Meet Bluey! 💙 This handsome boy belongs to Jo & Ryan - our Founder and Managing Director - and he's very much part of the furniture at head office. Whether he's supervising the garden from his favourite wall or pouncing on a feather toy, Bluey keeps everyone on their toes (and steals plenty of cuddles along the way).

Wishing a very happy International Cat Day to Bluey and to all the amazing cats we're lucky enough to care for. Give your feline friend an extra fuss from all of us at We Love Pets! 🐾

👇 Now it's your turn - drop your cat pictures below, we'd love to see them!
