A heartbroken dog has been returned to kennels just hours after meeting his 'forever family'.💔

Titan, who is back up for adoption with Oakwood Dog Rescue, waited patiently for someone to choose him, so when a family finally decided to take him home, his rescuers were overjoyed.

After all that time waiting, they thought their boy had finally found his forever home. 😥

And at first, everything seemed to be going perfectly. T

he following morning, the Hull-based rescue checked in with his new family to see how the one-year-old dog had spent his first night - and their response was everything they could have hoped for.

They said he hadn't barked once, slept soundly from 10pm until 6am and was "so playful".

He hadn't been shy or flinched once, had behaved perfectly while they ate and hadn't even begged for food.

They told the rescue: "He is lovely."

Delighted, the charity allowed the family time to settle their new addition into their home, moving their attention to the other dogs in their care.

But just three hours later, the rescue received another message, which read: "Can you call me urgent please."

They immediately called to find out what had happened - and were left stunned by what they heard.

The new owners admitted: "We don't want a dog anymore."

Confused, they asked whether something had happened - but there was no explanation.

They simply said "nothing" was wrong, and Titan had been "perfect". They just didn't want the responsibility of having a dog anymore.

Just like that, less than 24 hours after leaving the rescue, Titan was on his way back.

Now Titan is back where he started, left to try and make sense of what happened to the family he had only just begun to trust.

The charity described Titan as "bewildered" and "confused", saying he may be wondering what happened to the people he had just started to see as his family.😞

As a result, the rescue team are pleading with potential adopters to think long and hard before opening their homes to a rescue dog.‼️
