Why stand and eat when you can lie down and eat 🤷🤣

We were honestly so apprehensive about Troy’s arrival a month or so ago… a 38-year-old horse, struggling to keep weight on and get through the winter months.

We worried about everything! How he’d cope with the (very short!) journey in the horse box, how the stress of the move might affect him, whether he’d eat well enough, settle in, or pine for his old herd mates.

But we could never have imagined just how well he would adapt 🥹

He now enjoys full snoozes out in the field, sometimes canters out if we’re 5 minutes later than he’d like, happily gets down for a good roll, and spends his days grazing away… and incredibly, he’s gaining weight!

We’ve even relaxed about his REM sleep and let him rest without constantly checking he’s still with us 🙈😅

He truly is a resilient old boy, and we feel so privileged that his owners trust us with his care. I’m fairly sure in nearly three decades of owning him, they’ve never had quite so many photos of him 🤣📸

This is our formal apology for nearly killing Olwyn Starkey in the heat trimming everyone's toes today 🥵🙈🤣

Troy had his first trim since being with us, and after his bath and his pedicure looks extra handsome!

The rest of our herd are all trimmed up and surprisingly their hooves haven't grown too much with the spring grass 🌱

(This was only a few of the horses trimmed today we all got too hot and bothered for pictures 🙈🤣)

Oliver is settling in well and will be joining Delilah once his quarantine is up! D and Ol have known each other for a long time including hacking out together in their prime so it will be so lovely for them to spend their retirement years together 🥰

Once again thank you Fran Yorkshire Equi-Move Horse Transport for safely delivering another retiree to us 🐎

It's been a year since our beautiful girl Rosie passed away 💛🐎

She was my 13th birthday gift from Mum and Dad and my god she was the best gift any girl could ask for! For 17 years she was part of our family. Each one of us have so many memories with her, from her stubborn ways to the complete trust we had in her around any one of the children even when they were babies.

She was the best of the best and the reason we decided to start the retirement ranch 💜

You're so very dearly missed old girl 🥹
