Check those paws people! Better still clip that bit of fluff out between their toes!
GRASS SEEDS are quite literally the bane of everyone’s life at the mo, stressful for vet teams, owners and pets alike. Think needle in a haystack - only less fun!
Grass seeds are terrible foreign bodies and go on the most fantastical journeys through your pets body! They start off in an armpit or paw, or are inhaled whilst galloping along! Then migrate and cause drama!
So far we have removed grass seeds as foreign bodies from:
🐾 ears
💪 paws
🐈⬛ airways
⭐️ a few poor souls have had major surgery with us to get them out of lungs and muscles.
🐕🦺 vaginas (ouch)
🐶 prepuces and p***s ( double ouch)
🐩 armpits!
The worse affected seems to be anyone with poodle in them - it’s the curly fur! Or spaniel friends - it’s the hairy hobbit feet!
Check paws/armpits and ears everyday, keep coats short. Try and stay out the long grass and trim out mats of fur.
Don’t ignore head flapping (think ears!) or lumps and bumps, especially if patients are licking. It’s easier to find seeds when they are vaguely where they went in!
