A new chapter for Hound & Hoof 🐾

Some exciting news from H&H…
At the end of September, I’ll be swapping the Cotswolds for a different kind of adventure as I head off for four months to continue my Environmental Science studies and take part in conservation projects in Thailand and Indonesia. 🌿

But Hound & Hoof isn’t going anywhere.
I’m incredibly happy to share that while I’m away, Jemma from Hanks of Campden will be taking the reins at H&H, looking after the day-to-day running of the business and keeping our wonderful clients, dogs and team in very safe hands.

Our existing H&H team are staying, and we’re welcoming Michelle and Clare to the walking team. Both bring a huge amount of dog experience, and throughout September we’ll be working together to make the transition as seamless as possible.

Hound & Hoof has grown steadily since we started, and I’m incredibly proud of the business and team we’ve built. Being able to step away for this adventure without closing the doors on H&H feels like a pretty special milestone.

I’m so grateful to Jemma for taking this on, to the team for continuing to be such an important part of H&H, and to all of our clients who have trusted us with their animals and helped build this little business into what it is today. ❤️

🐾 DOG WALKERS WANTED – NORTH COTSWOLDS 🐾

Hound & Hoof is looking for one or two experienced, self-employed dog walkers to join our team and take on established group walks from late September.

We have regular weekday walks across Chipping Campden and the surrounding villages, with flexibility around the number of walks and hours taken on depending on availability and capacity.

What we offer:
🐾 Established clients and settled dog groups
🐾 Full admin and operational support
🐾 Business insurance provided
🐾 Thorough introductions and handover throughout September
🐾 Flexibility depending on your existing commitments
🐾 Opportunity for additional work and longer-term continuity

Walks operate mainly between 10am and 3pm, Monday–Friday, with the option to take on more or fewer hours depending on availability.

You'll need professional dog-walking experience, confidence handling groups, excellent reliability and your own suitable vehicle for safe dog transport.

Above all, we're looking for someone calm, capable and genuinely committed to providing excellent animal care.

🎉 One whole year of Hound & Hoof 🤍🐾

What began as a quiet idea has grown into something so much bigger than I imagined.

A business built on trust, connection, muddy boots, early mornings, long walks and the absolute privilege of caring for your animals.

In the last year we’ve had the joy of looking after
dogs, cats, horses, guinea pigs, chickens, pigs, hamsters 🐕🐈🐴🐓

We’ve grown into a small and fabulous team, welcomed new dogs into the pack, supported nervous souls, celebrated wins (big and small) and built a community that genuinely means the world to me.

Thank you to every client who trusted us with their animals.

Thank you to Claire and Liv for being such steady, kind, capable humans.

And thank you to the dogs especially for reminding us every day what really matters.

Here’s to another year of connection-led care, muddy adventures and doing things properly.

Our very first Hound & Hoof Christmas, and what a year it’s been.
We’re so grateful for every dog (and cat, horse, guinea pig, chicken, pig, hamster…) who’s been part of our days, and for every human who’s trusted us with their animals.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful, happy New Year.

❤️10Things to do when you bring your puppy home!! ❤️
1) Crate train them! But sleep on the couch next to the crate for a few nights!
2) Recall from day 1 - Pick a word that means come here and reward everytime they do it in the house and garden
3) Hand feed them for everything you want them to do!!
4) Scatter feed and walk in and out the room (to prevent separation anxiety)
5) walk round the garden with them tapping your leg saying “close” and rewarding everytime to off lead and on lead train them
6) Get their vaccinations sorted so they can go out asap!!!
7) Find puppy classes where they are allowed to SOCIALISE OFF LEAD and not allowed to interact on lead!
8 ) Carry them to shops and school and everywhere in a sling before they have vaccinations to go out
9) Invite friends and family to come to the garden and play with them
10) Ensure they have plenty of exercise and sleep!

And as a bonus - don’t use puppy pads (you’re training them to wee in The house) and don’t let them on the couch!!

🌿 Meet Liv, the newest member of the Hound & Hoof team! 🐾

We’re pleased to welcome Liv to our team. She’s been shadowing me over the past week and already has a brilliant natural instinct for group walks, calm handling and crowd control of excitable pups 🤎

Liv will be supporting us with regular dog walks and pet sits, and some of you may meet her soon on our usual routes.
